Every week I always look at the menu online. I peer pressure my friends into coming here and wasting almost $13 because I think the menu sounds good. When we finally sit down to eat it, oh Lord, it’s pretty bad and we could’ve gone somewhere else. And I’d do it again.

What a nice surprise! $12.50 per person, a fantastic deal for lunch like that. It’s a modest-sized buffet, but the food is very nicely prepared. Call them to find out the entrees of the day; we had fried fish and grilled chicken. Soup table, salad table, dessert table, drink table with tea/water/lemonade(?), and you can buy a beer at the bar off to the side if you like. Friendly and efficient staff. The dining room and bar area are very nicely decorated with high ceilings and classic decor. The only glitch was the A/C seemingly out that day, but in that big brick building, it wasn’t that hot, really. I’d be there for lunch every day if it were anywhere near my office.

A hidden gem of campus, and absolutely my favorite place to eat on campus. Very great value even if you have to spend actual money (they take pawpoints and commuter meal swipes). It’s definitely an upgrade compared to the regular dining halls, especially considering it’s the same price but with better food overall.

Fridays are Louisiana food so it’s usually very good. However, last Friday there was only one dessert option and I feel like last year they regularly had more than two. It might be a fluke so I’m still sticking to my 4 stars. It’s good food for decent money. Let’s see if they keep it up.

The LSU Club at Union Square has once again reinvented itself. The buffet that once fed students at the Union’s Magnolia Room has moved across the street and upped its game, today at least.

This formerly quiet spot on the LSU main campus is now bustling each weekday now that it has moved to an ample buffet service with a wide variety of dishes and fabulous desserts and unlimited drinks of iced tea or lemonade. Dinners can also order off the menu, but the buffet is a better deal. The buffet varies daily and usually has a few different healthy salads, two soups (the creamy tomato basil is delicious), several vegetable options, and a couple noon-vegetarian offerings. There are usually several desserts: the chocolate bread pudding and banana pudding are especially good. The biggest problem with this buffet is the temptation to eat too much. Although this was formerly called the Faculty Club, it is open to all members of the LSU community and the public in general. This is possibly the best deal for lunch around campus.

I love the Magnolia Room at the LSU Club. The food is great, as it has been for years and years. I just wish they had cakes, pies, and ice cream for desserts instead of the two pans of gooey, gloppy brownie dessert stuff.

Don’t waste your pawpoints on fast food in the union. Use them here. It’s more expensive but well worth it once you see the variety, quality, and quantity of the food.
