Our History Joe Dion was the founder of Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken. Dion came to Los Angeles from Michigan in 1957 with nothing in pockets and inclination to work in restaurants. After a month in his garage with a 30 pound fryer, experimenting with a recipe he says he obtained from New Orleans chef Paul Prudhomme, he arrived at a product chicken in a Zesty Cajun batter fried to a soft crunch and finished with a slight, spicy heat. Over a decade of involvement with Jack-in-the-Box and Pioneer Chicken franchises, Joe decided to start his own. Over a year in development, LOUISIANA FAMOUS FRIED CHICKEN was born out of many research trips to New Orleans and experimentation in the family carport. The first store opened in August of 1976 in

When I was searching for food to eat out of boredom and wanting to try something new, I came across this restaurant. I was thorougly impressed! The food was perfectly seasoned! Not too breaded and not small portions either. I did a smorgasbord of food for my family as we do with new restaurants to get a feel and taste of a vast variety of their menu. I tell you the ENTIRE family loved everything!! The chicken, the fish, the shrimp, mashed potatoes, okra, corn nibbles (my favorite now), the chicked fried rice, even the pies were awesome!!! I give the rating of 5 out of 5 for flavor, freshness and taste of the food, the service!!! This is definitely a new spot for me and my family!

Chicken wasn’t fresh for the place to be so slow. Fried chicken was dark in color, which means overcooked chicken, or unstrained/burnt grease. Fried okra has the same color and hard texture. The kitchen systems seems to need updating. If they get it right, they may have a prize on they hands.

Man, I really want to like this place. The chicken is good, the gumbo is great, the mashed potatoes are buttery and dense, and the people are so nice. Only issue is that I’ve been here 2 times and both times they’ve forgotten parts of my order.

First off, I will say, I have been to LA Famous locations that have quality food and service in other states. This location, however, should be closed by the health department. There are employees that work in the back who pick their nose, wipe their faces, and eat on the back line and touch food with bare hands. They simply do not care nor comprehend what sanitary safe food practices are. When confronted about these healthcare and sanitation concerns, they just look at you like they really don’t care or understand what you are telling them. If you value your health and welfare, do not consume food from this location. They are absolutely nasty.
