Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria – Waukesha

  4.0 – 105 reviews  $$ • Pizza Takeout

About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor. Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

Family-owned local chain for Italian classics & Chicago-style, deep-dish pizzas with buttery crusts.

The best Chicago deep dish pizza and so close to home! We had the Chicago Classic (sausage patty) pizza with a Malnati salad, and an order of Lemon Pepper traditional chicken wings. The pizza was fantastic. Absolutely devoured the Malnati salad, the tomatoes and mushrooms and salami bits with that sweet vinaigrette dressing always pleasing. The lemon pepper chicken wings were a very pleasant surprise. Will definitely order from them again!

I love their pizzas, thin and deep dish. Never had an issue until today. My deep dish pizza arrived a complete mess. The driver did not handle with care. I called Lou Malnati’s and explained that the pizza toppings were all on one half and the other half was bare. The young lady said “sorry it’s out of our hands, once we give it Doordash, they’re responsible.” I said no, I didn’t order Doordash. I ordered from your website. She said they contract with them now. I said ok, that’s between you and Doordash then. She asked how would I like this handled. I asked for a new pizza. She got snarky, so I asked for the manager. The manager kept trying to blame Doordash. In the end, after sending them a picture of the half deleted top pizza, the agreed to send a new one. Great pizza, go get it yourself if you can.

Love the butter crust, garlicky spinach, and the chunky marinara sauce! As someone who grew up south of Chicago, this tasted like home. Worth the wait. We dined in and had excellent service- very friendly wait staff. Also had the cheddar cubes and they are addictive! Pizza eaten with a knife and fork- the way it should be!

This is my first time ordering from here and I could not even finish one piece of thin crust pepperoni pizza. It was hard and the cheese, given probably being overcooked, was like if you overcooked slices of cheese over chips, hard, greasy and inedible. Maybe it doesn’t look burnt in the pic or greasy but that is my 2 word review of the thin crust pizza. The chicken wings were the quality of domino’s or pizza hut.

Horrible pizza! Ordered a thin crust pizza and the crust was mostly raw, soggy and just nasty. Maybe their deep dish pizza is better??? I don’t know, never had their deep dish pizza. But considering how bad the thin crust pizza was, I probably won’t be going back anytime soon.

Pizza was fantastic. Reasonably priced. Only gave 3 star on atmosphere because there is no dine in. They should provide wet wipes and napkins on orders though, eating it makes a mess!

We ordered on the phone for pick up. We arrived and they had people outside who came to our car. We waited a short time for our food to come out. We ordered the garlic bread, the Malnati salad, tiramisu, and an XL thin crust with sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, and black olives. The pizza was delicious and I would definitely order again. The salad was good but you will have to put it into a bigger bowl to mix it when you get home. The vinaigrette dressing was a little too sweet for me. The tiramisu was really good. The garlic bread was kind of bland but they give you marinara for dipping so that made it much more flavorful.

Every time I visit Waukesha, this is one of my stops. The pizza lives up to its reputation. I love the cheesy taste and the sauce is as good as it gets. The crust is my favorite Chicago Style crust.

Our take out order was ready 30 minutes later than we were told. The salad was not made well. Just look at the picture. Huge cuts of onion is not appetizing. Honestly it was probably made in a rush because of how late they were running on everyone’s orders. Still, I have had nothing but good experiences at the Brookfield location. I hate to give negative reviews, so I hope this encourages changes to do better. I love Lou Malnati’s as a chain, so I think the problem is just this location being newer and possibly understaffed.
