If you are really looking for Cali style Mexican food, you won’t find it here. I live in southern Cali, right in the heart of all the great Mexican food restaurants, trucks, and carts, and the food here is nothing like it. I was in Artesia visiting family, and we came to sample this place. The service was excellent, no complaints there. Very friendly and inviting staff. But it’s all about the food. The carne asada? It’s ok at best, but tastes more steamed than asada. The carnitas? Don’t even get me started. DRY, DRY. DRY. Should just call it chicharron. The al pastor? Looks nothing like actual al pastor. The salsa was on point though. Pretty much the only thing California style about this place is the prices. Way expensive for what you get. If you have never been to California, please don’t think that this is what Cali Mexican food is really like.
