My wife and I met for dinner at Los Fernandez restaurant in Streamwood, Illinois on 12/10/2025. We had our meal and everything was fine until we went to pay our bill. While we were at the register, a staff member named Abigail stated to me that I had been at the restaurant previously and had not paid my bill. She stated that on a previous date my credit card had declined and that she paid the bill because I had promised to go to the ATM and return with the money. I explained to her that she had me confused with someone else. She insisted that I was the person who stiffed her on the bill and claimed she had video proof of the event.

I sat down and said, “Great. Let’s see it.” She also said that she could prove it was me by showing the credit card records. I encouraged her to produce them. Of course, this was also a lie. She produced nothing.

I asked to speak with the owner of the restaurant. Jimmy, the manager, came over. It took a few requests for his name before he complied and gave it to me. Once I was able to clarify that he was not the owner, I asked him for the owner’s name or his manager’s name. Initially he did not want to comply. Again, he looked very nervous. Finally, he did give me a phone number for someone named Sally.

I called Sally from the restaurant, but she did not answer. I left her a message letting her know that I needed to speak with her.

Abigail claimed to have a copy of the receipt from my alleged unpaid meal. She produced it and then stated that my wife had been there that night as well. The receipt actually made me laugh—Mai Tais, enchiladas suizas, all things that I do not consume. Abigail doubled down on her mistake, whereas any logical person would realize at this point that a thief would not sit down to review video footage with her.

Not surprisingly, there was no video footage. Neither Abigail nor Jimmy was able to provide it.

My wife recorded the entire incident to document it. We had further words with Jimmy, the manager, who offered an apology on behalf of the restaurant. At this time, I called the local police to request that the incident be documented. I did not want Abigail to call the police and file a false report against me for not paying the bill. The police arrived, took my statement, and we left the restaurant.

At no time did Abigail offer an apology. About an hour later, I spoke to Sally, who is one of the other managers. She would not give me the owner’s name or phone number but agreed to request that he call me. Sally was very apologetic and acknowledged that the incident should have been handled differently.

I explained to Sally that while I understand anyone can misidentify someone, accusing a person of theft with no evidence whatsoever is negligent, insulting, and slanderous.

All in all, Los Fernandez lost a long-term customer of over a decade. Take your hard-earned money and spend it elsewhere. Send the message that this type of treatment of customers is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated.

Everything was fine but to add a tip to the bill when tipping is optional not cool. The only problem was one of the tacos the meat was full of fat un able to eat. We told the server and nothing was done to change or deduct from the bill.

I place a order for two tortas at 10:30pm I arrived 15 minutes after so around 10:45pm I was at the speaker saying I was there to pick up my order , no cars were behind me or Infront of me . I get to the window the guy gives me my bag and it felt cold from the bottom didn’t think much of it but once I got home 5minute drive to barrington it wasn’t even warm even though they were wrapped in foil paper and the portion on the tortas was skimpy even with all the garnishes I know they microwave it forsure . Very unpleasant meal if they wanna leave early then just close earlier

The food here tastes old. I ordered a bunch of different tacos and only the chicken taco tasted ok. Everything else tasted and smelled like it was sitting out for 24 hours. The Elote was good and that’s about it.

Not worth the money. Tried it several times because it’s close to work, but after I caught them changing prices and making excuses when caught, I’m not going back. Quality is not worth the hassle. Save yourself the trouble don’t go.

The reson that i come to thia restaurant is cause is 2mnts away from my house and because i like the cecina!!!! That’s all but is completely ridiculous their prices and hoe they charge you for everything literally 0.50 cents for a lemon when I order cecina and fajitas and also i order some oysters and lemon got for 6 i ask for Rajas for my cecina and I got more onions and Rajas whit tomato that I did not ask a d i got charge 2.99 Xtra.
And the most ridiculous part is that if u want chip and salsa you have to pay for it ….. all near restaurants give u free chips …hope some of the owners look at this complaints.and i forgot to mention that service sucks they forgot to bring you plates for u entries or they bringing it late
