Over the years I have heard rumblings that Popeyes was the place to get chicken. I had heard that somehow it was different, more authentic more down south. My sainted mother was from the south and she made a mean fried chicken, the holy Grail so to speak.

So I was rolling along minding my own business and I thought, maybe I’ll drop by Del taco and get a couple of cheap greasy tacos but as I pulled up I noticed that there were two signs, one for Del taco and the other for Popeyes and I thought Well, Here’s the chance! I am not one to turn down a challenge, and even the thought of fried chicken is nostalgic. It takes me back to my childhood and mother making the most amazing food.

I wasn’t expecting that. I know fast food is just fast food But I thought what the heck, let’s give it a try. The interior was nicer than I expected warm colors and romantic lettering. I got a three-piece combo that looked a little like they had come from hobbit chickens. Not terribly large… and I got fries.

There were no napkins, which is insane considering that they specialize in chicken where greasy fingers are just a fact of life. But I suppose that’s what pants are made for. I watched another family go to the front and ask for napkins, but for me that ship had sailed. I was already up to my wrists in grease and was already beginning to doubt my detour into this poultry experience…

The breading was good, crunchy and firm as if the chicken was wearing a bit of savory armor, chickens of the round table. This is where things began to take their tumble into disappointment. The wing was a joke as if the chicken had been an anorexic and the only thing clinging to the bone was crunchy crust. Next time I’ll just get two pieces and demand no wings, well actually there will be no next time.

The chicken itself was meager with an abundance of gristle and a lacking of seasoning. I did not have high expectations, but even then I was disappointed. It’s like opening the treasure chest on a pirate ship and discovering that it is full of lead instead of gold.

The chicken, like the restaurant itself is all show, but no soul. The interior decorating is nice, but the magic is missing. I suppose at least now I know. Good fried chicken is hard to find and bad fried chicken always costs too much.

When I first came in, the manager acknowledged me with a nod and then proceeded to go about his duties as if I were not there. They must be understaffed but it’s not a good look, me standing forlorn and lonely as the manager hustles about doing other things. I don’t get angry about this kind of thing much anymore, I just take notes. This was a failure on the food and a failure on the service. I can think of no reason to ever give it a second try.

I stopped by Popeyes and honestly? Solid choice.

The place is kind of small, but that just means you’re closer to the real reason you’re there: that spicy fried chicken. And wow. That chicken doesn’t whisper “spicy,” it testifies. Crispy, juicy, and absolutely not here to play games.

They’ve got some cool decorative touches inside too—nothing fancy, but enough personality to make you feel like you’re in the right place doing the right thing with your life.

The staff was friendly, moved fast, and got my food out like they knew I was emotionally invested in this meal. No long waits, no weird vibes—just good service and hot food.

Overall, it’s a great spot when you want something delicious, fast, and slightly life-affirming. Easy 4 out of 5 stars. Would absolutely come back.

I recently purchased the three-tender box from this establishment. While the biscuit was enjoyable and the fries were satisfactory, albeit a little stale, I found the tenders themselves to be quite disappointing. The breading was excessively thick and hard, making them difficult to consume. I recall having the chicken sandwiches a few weeks prior, and the chicken was excellent at that time. Perhaps the chicken used for the tenders was not of the same quality.I generally do not complain, but this experience was not up to par.

The gallon of sweet tea I bought yesterday from this location is full of what appears to be some kind of mold or something. It’s disgusting. My family and I drank 2/3 of it just to discover the strange gooey mold substance. I am truly disgusted and worried about us getting sick now. I plan to bring it into the location tomorrow so they can check what’s going on.

Update: returned the tea today and Jose seemed dismissive and uninterested in the mold issue. Stating that a tea bag broke without even examining it. Only when saying no no it’s not from a tea bag it’s mold , slimy , not a tea substance. He then looked briefly and said ok, what do you want? A refund? I said well that’s nice but I was actually worried about the health issue and brought it in to help you figure out if there was a problem causing this. He dismissed saying that the tea is made fresh and he doesn’t know what happened. I truly did not want anything out of this other than to make sure no one else has to have this happen to them. I won’t be eating here again and have for years and truly hope a health inspector reviews this and follows up. I showed Jose this thread with the response that says to bring it in so they can figure out what’s going on with the mole, it’s shows the response is from the owner which I truly appreciate however Jose dismissed that as well saying that’s not the owner you’re just using an app. I hope someone takes this seriously so someone else doesn’t ingest this.

When you’re called a liar by the manager over the phone you tend to get pissed off. I’ll get my refund one way or another. And when I order again? I’ll take out all my food from the bag to make sure my order is correct! How do you forget (2) TWO TEN PIECE TENDERS?I’ll be counting out tenders from now on! TWO (2) 10 -Piece tenders not in my bag! Spent $110.64 on 10/19/25 at 6:37pm mobile order

I found a wrapper in my chicken sandwich, on my cheese, almost done eating it. I called and spoke to Stacy who was the manager at the time, and she wanted me to go out of my way to take the sandwich back. She did not even apologize nor state that she would look into it. All she said, was I can not do anything about, if you can’t bring it in. I’m very disappointed on how Stacy (Manager) handled this situation. She needs additional management training on how to provide better customer service.

I will admit, when I initially filled out the online survey on the receipt I was upset. I had just gotten home from the drive thru, a 20 minute drive, and realized I received the wrong order. It wasn’t even close to what I had ordered, and I was a bit hangry already. After filling out the survey, I called the store to get a refund for the difference (I paid $20 for a $10 order), and was immediately given an offer to come back to the store to get my original order. When I got back to the drive I was immediately and swiftly taken care of, and appreciate the willingness of the staff to correct their mistake instead of arguing with me over the phone about it. Big thank you to Karla!

The chicken here is very good. My kids loved it. It is very flaky and crispy. We bought the 8-piece meal and everything was hot and fresh. The line was rather long to get our food, but it did finally come. The weight was on the fries. Others who are waiting in line said that it is normal for them to be backlogged. Overall, I was happy with what I got. The app was easy to use.
