This small Mexican Cafe is a bit different from the typical Southeastern Mexican restaurant. Although it isn’t completely authentic compared to Southwestern Mexican cuisine, it’s the closest I have found. The food is obviously homemade, and isn’t a replica of every other Mexican food joint in Virginia serving mass produced food items. In fact, their Chimichanga tasted almost as good as my homemade ones according to my son. They actually deep fried the chimi for the correct amount of time leaving it perfectly crispy and golden. The beef in their dishes is actual shredded beef, as opposed to the usual greasy ground beef you find everywhere else. Although it was good, I have to admit that the food was a bit on the bland side. The salsa was obviously homemade, not much of a kick, and a little heavy on the garlic. They didn’t serve the normal white goop that all of the other surrounding Mexican restaurants do. They offer a good selection of dishes, the portions are adequate, and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend that you give this restaurant a try over the other ones in the South Boston area.

$40. They were out of rice and substituted fries. When we opened it up, they had completely left off all of the cheese. So just grilled veggies and dry meat. Waste of money for fries and dry food.

We were there on a quiet night but the staff was still on their A game. The food was very well prepared and service was excellent. We were surprised by the number of vegetarian choices which we really appreciated because we too tend choose from that kind of menu. Very reasonable prices. It was quite a great surprise.

Rice was pretty good
Prices
Very clean
Cons:

We didn’t finish either of our plates, nor did we bring it home. Hopefully, they were just having an off night. We won’t be finding out

Staff is WONDERFUL!! Very friendly and welcoming . Comfortable seating and I am excited to see their outside area in the summer !! Food was delicious and brought out in a timely manor . I got the half Mexican pizza with chicken . The Mexican pizza usually comes with the guacamole salad but I’m picky and only wanted sour cream 🙂 it was very delicious!! I cannot wait to eat here again !!

We love Los Amigos! The service is always so friendly and great, along with the food. We believe this is the best Mexican restaurant in South Boston. Everything we’ve tried there so far has been so great.
