I’ve been coming here for years now and I realized I haven’t posted a review.
I have never been disappointed with Los Ajoos. Every plate is delicious. I’ve had Fideo Loco which reminded me of my mom’s. As I write I’m waiting for the Antonio Plate. I sub’d beef for cheese enchiladas and got one beef and one chicken soft taco. The plate is so delicious. Everything about it hits so good. I highly recommend it. Please stop by and have a meal. You won’t be disappointed

This place is definitely one of San Antonio’s best hidden gems. Everything I’ve had here is delicious, but I’m a big fan of their breakfast tacos and puffy tacos. The service is always attentive and friendly.

Homemade flour tortillas. Soft fluffy powdered just give me some butter tortillas. Barbacoa Taco was good a little on the greasy side but the flavor was excellent. Bean and cheese I will come back for you again. And the pork chop taco was perfect. Grilled pork chop cut into pieces. I asked for water and it came without ice I don’t know if that’s standard so just maybe you want to ask about the ice. Great service very attentive staff. I opened with it but I want to emphasize, homemade flower tortillas.

First time here and I was looking for a place to eat near the area. I went on Saturday 3/15/25 at noon. The restaurant is clean and I loved the music. The food was okay. I ordered the mole with rice and beans corn tortillas. The mole seemed to be watered down. The picture I posted looks darker but the mole sauce itself was lighter and with a watery consistency. My daughter got the enchilada kids meal. The sauce didn’t taste homemade. My son ate a grilled chicken plate with rice and beans and flour tortillas. The flour tortillas were delicious. The corn tortillas were homemade delicious too. A bit thicker than expected. I wish they had brought the tortillas in a tortillas container holder to keep them fresh and hot . They brought the tortillas out in between 2 small salad plates. The tortillas got cold but otherwise it was okay. Wish they’d have tortas in the menu. The guacamole was definitely not homemade. I didnt like the guacamole. This restaurant is more tex Mex . My mom ate the mole as well since i had some leftover and brought it home and she got sick with diarrhea. I wont be gng back but thank you regardless.

It’s been many years since the last time I visited Los Ajos, but from what I could remember, it was quite good. Well, I had a great experience again thankfully. The food and service was on point. The enchilada plate was excellent. The gravy and americans cheese blended so well together. The puffy taco was a super tasty bonus. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended!!

Salsas are SUPER GOOD! BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT!! Barbacoa is very good. Everything has great flavor. Not bland like some places. My husband and I are going to be coming here often. I think we found our new breakfast place. 🙂

1st Time Here. No free Chips and Salsa here,
if you ask for them, they will Charge. Service here is Slow Tea was Delicious, Cheese Enchiladas were Good but not Amazing like Blanco Cafe. The Chalupa meat was Delicious, Beans were Good, and Red Salsa mmm Good.
Restaurant is Pretty and Clean. Loved that they had Hand Sanitizer Station
I’ll come back, only if I’m around the Area.

The restaurant has a clean, small dining area. The service was excellent with the waitress checking quite often. I had the senior breakfast, as seen in the picture, and you can see the price on the menu picture. It was hot, and had a good presentation. It was a nice, cozy place to enjoy breakfast. I recommend it.

I recently dined at Los Ajos, and unfortunately, I had a highly concerning experience. As I was drinking my glass of water, I noticed a dead roach floating inside. This is not only disgusting — it’s a clear violation of basic health and safety standards.
Under Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER) and local San Antonio Health Code, restaurants are required to maintain clean, pest-free environments at all times. Specifically:
• TFER §228.186: “The premises shall be maintained free of insects, rodents, and other pests.”
• TFER §228.75(b): Food and beverages must be protected from contamination at all stages.
• TFER §228.243: All food contact surfaces, including cups and utensils, must be sanitized and pest-free.
The presence of a roach in drinking water indicates a possible pest infestation and lack of proper inspection and sanitation in either the kitchen or serving area.
This is not just unpleasant — it’s dangerous and illegal under Texas law.
Until the owners of Los Ajos address this serious health risk and pass inspection, I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant. I’ve reported this incident to the local health department for follow-up and public safety.
