Let me just be very clear on this review if you want a place that will make you forget where you are in the world while enjoy the greatest meal you will eat ANYWHERE in the upstate then this is the place for you. My wife is New York Italian so I know how hard real Italian food can be to get down here, but this place rivals some of those Brooklyn eateries with there amazing dishes. When we walked in we were greeted by our server who was the kindest Italian gentleman on this planet earth. When he took our order I have no idea why but it felt like going to visit your grandfather. We ordered appetizers the smoked salmon and the fried mozzarella which is where the surprise started. When they brought it out and I took the first taste of sauce I knew then we were in for one of the greatest meals ever and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The lobster raviolis are like God himself hand crafted them just for you paired with an outstanding sauce and the chicken parmesan was absolutely fantastic as well as the pasta it comes with. The place is small, candlelit and cozy with the magical feel of Italy. So if you think you’ve had good Italian food then think again, try Giovannis and be forever changed.

This is me and my fiancés first time here and all I got to say is wow. They told us to get there at 4 because on Valentine’s Day it gets super busy and there was a line behind us. Maybe 20+ people! There is maybe only 12 tables so it made it feel homey. The atmosphere is fantastic with blackout blinds, candles on the tables, silverware set up with a cup of water already on the table. The owner comes by and personally puts the napkin on your lap and gets your drink order! The menu is small but that if perfectly fine! The food is impeccable and outstanding! I had the chicken parm and it was instantly falling apart in your mouth which is what I love with chicken! Everything is handmade there which is what makes the experience even better!
Definitely going back! This is our new Italian restaurant!

Without a doubt, one of the most exquisite Italian restaurants we have visited anywhere, including New York City (where we lived for many years). We felt like we were back in Italy with the incredibly delicious, savory meals! Every plate was great. We will be back again and again! Grazie mille per la fantastica esperienza culinaria. Thank you for a fantastic Italian dining experience!

Amazing food. I am not joking (maybe the wine was partially responsible for it) but for a minute I forgot I was in Greenville in the US.
Got the salmon with pasta and gorgonzola. I couldn’t be happier. Everything was perfect.
Husband got lasagna that he enjoyed a lot.
The wine was perfect.
Thank you Gabriel for your warm welcome. You made our 2 year anniversary very special.

I’ve been coming here for months. Food is always excellent and service is fantastic. They always make you feel like part of the family. I’ll have to back and look through all the food photos from here. Never had anything I’ve disliked. Personal favorites are the tortellini soup and the Veal Parmigiano. Though the gnocchi are probably a close second.

This is a hidden gem. The menu is limited because everything is cooked fresh and they will gladly make adjustments for you. Service was spot on. The wine selections were amazing and the owner knows wine well. The wine list was limited but there are many other wines available. Pricing was not much more for the same wine in a store. I will be back. I have come back several times. Great place.

Great little restaurant. Poorly lit and tiny. Great service from the staff and owner. Half the menu is printed and the owner rattles off the other items. The very serious owner takes the whole experience seriously. From placing your napkin on your lap to recommending the right sauce for your pasta. The food makes up for all the shortcomings. Enjoy

Reasons I’d recommend this place:
1) First, it is Italian food. In every bite, you could sense it was crafted with love.
2) The coziness of this place makes it easy to connect with those at the table.
3) Although they don’t accept reservations and make you do the line to get a table, once in, the service is warm.
4) Good wine selection.
5) The food… oh, the food! Everything I tried was delicious! Their house bread, Truffle Ricotta Ravioli, and Calamari. For my entree, I ordered the Sea Bass, and it was flakily delicious. I paired it with pesto gnocchis… God! My spouse ordered a Veal meal and it was great! Not the best ever, but great.
6) Tiramisu – it was different. Sweet but tart. Tangy… I don’t know, different. Good though!
So the experience overall is 5-Star, so I recommend this to anyone looking for a different and tasty dinner while in GVL.

We love this restaurant! The food is amazing, service is great, and they make it a whole experience.
What we ordered –
Appetizers:
– Calamari: Fresh, not fried, and it comes with fresh bread to dip the sauce in!
– Caesar and house salad – very good!
Dinner:
All very hearty meals and you will be leaving with a to-go box!
– Lobster Ravioli: the sauce is amazing, kind of like a vodka sauce in a way.
– Gnocchi with veal – so good! Umami flavor and so savory
– Chicken piccata with pasta- light, lemony, fresh!
– Baked ziti – very good and large portion.
Ended the meal with coffee 🙂
Highly recommend! Get there early or there might be a wait. They do not take reservations.

Truly a flawless experience. The service is competent but not overly familiar – so rare to find in Greenville. The owner is everywhere at once, recommending wine, taking orders, welcoming everyone. We had truffle and mushroom ravioli, lasagna, and seafood linguine along with a very reasonably priced bottle of Tuscan red – ND everything was just fantastic! Tiramisu to go made for an extra treat the next day. Don’t sleep on this hidden gem!
