It took real restraint to not blast hefty spoonfuls of guac to the gobpiece. It was that good.

The brisket beef in the tacos de suaderos was so gracefully swaddled by a warm corn tortilla which had also been plastered with the delicious, fresh guacamole. The tacos were plump with their respective fillings, which is how tacos should always be. Very plump. The flavor of the beef was fantastic. As I write this review, I can still almost taste them.

The rice and beans went together like rice and beans. Perfectly.

We showed up for lunch on a Saturday without reservations and the hostess kindly found us a table. The staff were very attentive and we didn’t go too long without getting refills of our drinks. We did not try any of their alcohol selection, but many people had margaritas that looked amazing.

For our next time in Richmond, we will be visiting Lolita’s again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lolita’s in Carytown is an absolute GEM and I cannot stop thinking about this meal.

I ordered the fish tacos and they were, without exaggeration, some of the best I’ve ever had. The fish was perfectly cooked — light, flaky, and fresh — with the ideal balance of toppings that complemented every bite without overpowering it. The tortillas were soft and warm, and the whole thing came together like a flavor dream. You could tell every ingredient was intentional and fresh.

But the real showstopper? The Agua de Cenote. It was stunning — not just in taste but in presentation. Cool, refreshing, and beautifully crafted, it felt like a mini vacation in a glass. It paired perfectly with the tacos and made the whole experience feel elevated and special.

The atmosphere on W. Cary St. is vibrant and fun — colorful, lively, with that perfect Carytown energy. The staff were warm and attentive, and the whole vibe just makes you want to stay longer and order more.

If you’re in Richmond and haven’t been to Lolita’s, you’re doing yourself a disservice. This place hits every mark — incredible food, creative drinks, great service, and unbeatable atmosphere. I’ll be back very soon. ✨

We dined here for Valentine’s Day and selected the prix fixe menu. The appetizer was outstanding — I would have given the restaurant five stars based on that course alone.
The entrée course was more mixed. The steak arrived barely warm and, although it had a pleasant tangy flavor initially, it became a bit overpowering after a few bites. I also found myself wishing for more of a char-grilled finish. The duck confit was tender and flavorful, but it was served with an undercooked roasted plantain. The tri-color carrots were placed over a mole sauce that, in our opinion, didn’t pair particularly well with the duck.
Dessert was very enjoyable — a delicious pastry accompanied by ice cream. The avocado gelato was especially unique and exceptional.
Overall, the restaurant shows promise, and I would be interested in returning to try selections from their regular menu. I would still recommend giving it a try.

I met my family here to celebrate a birthday. We called ahead to secure a reservation because we heard they are always busy and there’s usually a wait. When we walked in, there was just a few minutes wait and we were seated. The server was awesome, very informative and helped us to create a vegan option off the menu.
The food was very good – we had a soy chorizo quesadilla, grilled cauliflower, and tacos.
We also had some drinks, that were just as pretty as they were delicious.
I loved the vibes of this place, there was a beautifully lit bar area and wall decor as well.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and we’re able to be seated without a reservation. The restaurant is fun and colorful. They have great cocktails, including a Mezcal old-fashioned which was yummy. We started with a guacamole and salsa and there was a decent portion. I had the Mexican Caesar salad with Suadero and my friend had steak. Both were very good and huge portions. The brussels sprouts were also delicious others in our group ordered the tacos and everyone liked theirs. Price is a reasonable bomb service was pretty good.

Excellent Mexican fare with reasonable prices and outstanding service. The staff were so attentive and the food came out fast. My carne asada fries were amazing, as were my chorizo tacos. Recommend for a high end lunch or fun date night spot. Full bar inside as well.

We. Love. Lolita’s!!!

The staff is so amazing, and somehow the food is even more astonishing. My girlfriend and I travel from PA and SC, and have made it a tradition to come to Richmond just to eat at Lolita’s. The food is vibrant, cooked to perfection, and full of tradition that you can taste in every bite. Highly recommend everything on the menu.

The food smells good the minute you walk in. Very cozy and inviting vibes. The food is so good I almost cried. From the home-made salsas to the carne asada fries to the octopus everything was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious.

For the carne asada fries, bite-sized chunks of potato with a crispy exterior that melts in your mouth the moment you bite into them. Perfect texture pairing to the perfectly cooked steak bites.

Very generous portions, perfect for sharing or if you’re super hungry.

My husband and I love supporting a local family-owned establishment! We will be back! Can’t wait to work our way through their entire menu. Our first visit was the perfect birthday dinner for my husband!

Excellent food& excellent service. Love how the menu is both diverse but at the same time not overwhelming with too many options. I love how they added the story behind it. The shrimp tacos were excellent, super fresh ingredients. The pink Christmas lights made the ambiance perfect! Super cozy and bonus points for the great prices.
