Loco Pez – Graduate Hospital

Social Profile:

Tucked in a cozy corner of the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, the third Philly outpost of Loco Pez is a two story homage to SoCal street tacos and vintage wallpaper. Mix and match all the different varieties of tacos, from Al Pastor pork to the Baja style shrimp taco. Want birria? Check. Nachos? Also check? Nachos piled high with three kinds of meat and guacamole? You get the idea. There are lots of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu to go along with the always-vegan specialty margaritas. Lovely outdoor dining is plentiful in the warmer months, and kiddos are always welcome. Must follow on IG @locopez to get the skinny on $1 taco day. Once a week all the tacos are a buck, but you need to spot the post to know when.

Phenomenal experience!!! We came for the happy hour on Friday.
Happy Hour:
Monday-Friday 5-7pm
Saturday and Sunday 1-3pm
$6 Margaritas
$2 off Drafts
$6 Nachos

We got two margs and some nachos and it was all amazing. Not to mention that it started raining while we were outside and the server helped us move to a better spot immediately. I will absolutely go back! One thing is that I don’t know how to tell when they have dollar taco nights, it would be awesome if that was on a schedule of some sort.

My sister and I had such a great time at Loco Pez! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was fun, relaxed, and full of good energy. The food was great — everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can really tell they put effort into their menu.

Our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive without being overbearing. She made us feel right at home and added to the overall positive experience.
We’ll definitely be back!

This is the first time I’ve been to Loco Pez. They have three locations. This location happened to be at 700 S. 20th St. On such a beautiful day, the outdoor seating was packed pretty well and it’s quite a large area as they have sidewalk seating and also street seating. This is a tree lined street so it makes a great outdoor area walking into the restaurant by itself you notice it has a little retro feel to it as you’re seeing in the pictures. Only a few people are on the inside understandably so because it was such a beautiful day out, we were seeing it immediately and our server, took our drink orders right away. Not soon after our drinks arrived, we ordered a gold rush, which is black tea concentrate Horchata, turmeric, and honey syrup this came with a nice cinnamon sugary crust on the rim of the glass. It was very tasty. We also ordered a fair dragon, which is a ritual, nonalcoholic, tequila, lime, simple syrup, and fresh serrano chilies. This was extremely refreshing for entrées. We decided to order a vegan tortilla soup with a guajillo pepper broth with diced avocado, Chihuahua cheese and tortilla crisps, and we ordered a side of vegan Sitan and vegan sour cream. This tasted just as good as it looked on the table as side condiment they have fresh puréed, tomatillo, and freshly made chili sauce in plastic squirt bottles. I love this tomatillo purée is such a great condiment. You can put on just about anything on myself ordered vegan tacos with chorizo, meat, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, onion, and vegan cashew cheese served on a soft tortilla shell. These were done perfectly and needed. Nothing as you see in the picture done just right our server was excellent and always tentative. Everyone outside was having such a great time. I must make mention there was street parking. That is free here for two hours and it was not hard for me to find a spot. Very surprising. I provided the menus in the pictures and you’ll see most of the menu is geared towards Mexican cuisine, but they have some other great options, including double smash burgers, fried chicken sandwiches and street dogs. They do also offer vegetarian items and all you have to do is ask about the vegan options as in most taco places you’ll find it an easy transition.

Cool retro atmosphere Mexican restaurant and bar. Local favorite! Came for brunch with a friend who is a regular. Bartender was friendly and honest about menu items so that you get what you want. Definitely look forward to going back next time I’m in the Graduate Hospital area. There’s indoor and outdoor seating.

Found our new taco home!
We just discovered this place, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve eaten tacos all my life and it can be hard to find ones that taste like home. Not only do they nail it every time, but it feels like home too. The staff is beyond awesome.
Recently, I placed a takeout order and noticed a taco was missing. They were unbelievably quick and kind about it. I went out of my way to have proof since I was already home by the time I noticed , but they didn’t even need it—they simply took my word for it and surprised me by making my next takeout order free when I came back the next day to claim the missing taco.
The food, the service—there are so many reasons to keep coming back. They’ve definitely made a life long regular out of me.

Thank you Loco Pez !

Good food and good service! Plenty of outdoor seating, not too busy at all on a Saturday afternoon.

I cannot recall the name of the cocktails, but it had Mezcal, Jalapeno Infused Tequila, and Passionfruit juice in it and it was spectacular. It came recommended by Jason, who was a great host. My cousin had the Elote Wings and I had the Vegan Nachos. Each were really good and the nachos were HUGE and as much as I wanted to finish them, I couldn’t. I heated them in the air fryer the next day. I especially like that their Vegan options aren’t basic like many other restaurants, which gives Vegans more options to choose from. This was my first time and certainly won’t be my last.

The food is very good and it’s a great spot for tacos and beer. Nothing fancy, just a relaxed, casual vibe where you can enjoy good food and hang out comfortably.

The food is very good. Loved the mushroom and soy chorizo bowls and quesadillas. The ambience is okay and the space is small. The outside seating has a lot of bugs and mosquitos around, some arrangements to keep them out would be helpful.

We were forced to sit outside even though the insides were empty, because they had other reservations coming in later that night. It wasn’t very comfortable and hence I’d recommend making a reservation beforehand.
