We came in on a very busy night. We were seated right away, our server was very friendly and knew the menu. The food was very good. The catfish was seasoned really good very crispy. The Mac and cheese was a bit dry and needs just a touch of salt. The baked bean are delicious, Burnt ends are good some can be fatty but overall it was good. My husband got the the ugly smoked gumbo the bowl was a perfect size. We also order the cornbread platter and glad we did warm and sweet very moist. The music is a bit weird needs and update. It can get really loud in there but it’s not outrageously loud. Will definitely be back again!

Great food, great service and a really nice restaurant in the heart of Royal Oak. We had been to their Oxford location a few times and even had them cater my retirement party, but this was our first time visiting their Royal Oak restaurant. The food was spectacular. We both had pulled pork and brisket and like our prior experience with the Lockhart’s, it was awesome. Their coleslaw, baked beans and sweet potato fries were also delicious. It’s pretty far from our house, but I’ll find a reason to get back there someday.

Other reviews had me pretty excited to check this place out. I was not thrilled with what I received. Not sure if it was just an off night for them or what. Got the special plate and the meat was cold. Let our waitress know and it was taken back and New meat brought to me. New plate was also cold. At that point I just picked around and ate the okra. The Mac and cheese was also good. Got a banana pudding to go and it was runny. Maybe the pudding part was forgotten? Not sure. Either way, not sure if I’d give it another go next time I’m in town or not. Our waitress was good.

When I walked in the place of business was not at all packed. I waited at the front to be seated for few minutes. After looking around and still no one coming to seat me I wasn’t happy. I asked a customer at the bar if anyone was working. He wasn’t polite. Then a lady with a smirk on her face came up and replied, The waitress is busy. Can I help u. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay after the encounter but I was Hungry. After the waitress came I was at ease as her personality was A1!!! She was very respectful and Professional. The food was just not good at all. Very small portions for their prices.

Amazing place to stop and hang out. The chef truly knows his food. You will rarely find a bbq place with real flavor and this place is filled with amazing flavor. Perfect service. Great chill vibe inside and the food is more than you’re expecting. Do yourself a favor and try this spot.

Pull pork was really flavorful and juicy. Ribs had a different kind of rub on them than I’ve ever had before and it’s really good. The brisket was a little too fatty but good. Mac and cheese has onions and a weird cream in it. Almost tasted like sour cream, wasn’t good at all. Beans have pulled pork in them and were delicious. The sports bar feel on the inside was kind of a rustic old wood look.

Went here for brunch today and it was great! We got the mimosa pitcher which was a great deal for only $15. I had the chicken and waffles- the chicken was great, but the waffles were just okay, hence the 4 stars. Overall, great experience and service- would love to try more brunch here!

I love this place! I have been coming here for years. It’s definitely one of the best barbecue restaurants in Michigan. I recommend just about everything on the menu. They also have a decent beer selection. The ONLY complaint I have is that I recently ordered meat à la carte for take out , and the sausage is by the 1/2 lb, but when I got it home, there was only one link. Now when I go to the meat market to buy links, they are fat, and there are about five links in a pound, so that one skinny link is definitely not a 1/2 lb.

Best place in Royal Oak to throw an event! I hosted a surprise 30th birthday party in their event space. It was perfect, the food was great and the bartenders were amazing! We were able to decorate and play music. Highly recommend!
