Llama San Review – West Village – New York – The Infatuation

Llama San is a Nikkei restaurant in the West Village from the people behind Llama Inn. It’s pricey, but the food is incredibly delicious.

Amazing restaurant! We went for 4 course dinner – $95 each. Last course is dessert. For each course you can choose from about 3-5 options. Each course is delicious. You have the option of ordering each course separately as it’s own dish. I would not recommend this because each dish is focused on quality rather than quantity. So it is a given that you will need three dishes to fill full. Better to go with course dinner as it makes sense economically and experience wise. The interior is warm and organic, staff is nice. Indoors, outdoors and bar seating available. The chef team deserves a hats-off. Absolutely mind-blowing food. Each ingredient is carefully selected and paired perfectly. Must visit!

We had a really great experience. The food is excellent and the prix-fixe is really worth it. The scallops were my favorite. So fresh and tasty. Drinks were also great. We went during a hot evening and the AC struggled to keep up, but that’s really my only complaint. I’ll definitely come back.

Really chic place with minimalist decor and maximalist food. Got a tuna ceviche which was amazing, the iberico pork that inexplicably comes with a side of pesto udon, and the ‘wagyu’ which is a filet mignon with some crispy rice. Also got the grilled oysters which were too salty for my taste.

It has the vibe of “expensive but unpretentious”. As someone who is not in the right tax bracket to eat here more than once, I respect that. The drink program here is top notch, and you can tell from looking at the menu that it wasn’t an afterthought. We enjoyed several cocktails that I’d put toe-to-toe with some of the best I’ve had at bars here in the city. The food was equally fantastic. There’s a great contrast of flavors and textures, and I love that it’s an homage to traditional Peruvian dishes while being distinctly its own. The only letdown was the dessert, honestly. Maybe it’s just because everything else is so good, but I’d probably skip and just try another drink. I’m glad I got to try this place before it becomes (deservedly) more well known and getting a reservation becomes impossible.

Everything on the menu from the incredibly inventive cocktails with pisco to the scallop ceviche and ibérico is mouthwatering good. I cannot tell you enough that this place is a hit. Go with a small group and try everything. Share plates and enjoy the unique tastes of Llama San.

i would like to start this review by saying how great our meal was. each and every one of those dishes had amazing taste, texture and appearance. also the service was outstanding. to give you an example, my wife ordered a drink that she was not so excited about but willing to drink it and continue ordering a different one later. but our server insisted on simply exchanging her drink for another drink that the bartender could create more to her tasting even though we said he didn’t need to do that. but the server insisted and we were so appreciative and so impressed by the level of service that we rarely see at other restaurants. the attention to detail in all aspects of this restaurant deserve more than 5 stars. it made our anniversary/birthday meal so special and we’ll definitely return. keep up the great work guys and my wife and i can’t wait to try your new location in Madrid this summer.

A very well designed space with a uniquely curated menu. Each dish is beautifully presented and displays a detailed craft. The appetizers, in particular, are a standout, brimming with delectable and robust flavors that leave a lasting impression.

Have enjoyed dinner, brunch, popup collabs and now snacks and drinks at the bar. Chef Erik is a finalist for JBF Outstanding Chef and it’s easy to see why. The Peruvian Nikkei cuisine at this West Village gem is executed with skilled technique.
