Reviews
The drinks were exceptional—each one crafted with precision and intention. Whether ordering a classic or something more inventive, the bartenders delivered balanced, elegant cocktails with a strong sense of character. There’s a quiet confidence in their craft that really stood out. I appreciated how knowledgeable and personable they were, always ready to explain a flavor profile or offer a recommendation without being pushy or distant.
Heather, our server, was truly wonderful—gracious, professional, and incredibly kind. She anticipated our needs without hovering and made us feel genuinely welcomed. It’s rare to encounter someone who makes such a lasting impression through subtle, thoughtful service. Everyone we encountered, from bar staff to management, carried that same standard of hospitality—attentive without being performative, present without pressure.
This isn’t just a hotel bar—it’s a full experience of Austin at its most elegant.
Whether you’re a guest or just dropping by for a drink, Live Oak sets the bar (literally) for how great service, stunning ambiance, and beautifully made cocktails can come together. I’ll absolutely be returning.
Today we stopped in during the day and ordered:
Cold brew
Dips and chips
Brownie skillet
Dirty martini and this is where it gets shady.
Charged for grey goose $15
Charged for martini $7
Charged for blu cheese olives $2
I brought it up to our very friendly and kind server, Cristina that I was surprised by all the extra upcharges as well as getting grey goose when it’s a dirty martini.
Her answer was that she assumed I wanted the best. Just because I want the best doesn’t mean I like feeling taken advantage of. I was a server when I was putting myself through college. Never assume and ask; regardless I still gave her a 20% tip.
For a moment I thought it would have been nice to revisit Four seasons for date night since we’re locals. However, that will not be the case; I recommend the Driskell bar for drinks and stellar service.
