It is not a top 5 BBQ joint. The brisket had the roast beef flavor which was disappointing. Based on the brisket it is not top 50. The beef cheeks were really good. The pulled pork was dry. The sausage was pretty good. The line will move slow as they take their time plating. We were 15th in line and it took about 1 hour and 30 min before we able to order. They do have good sides.

Wow this was great BBQ. I’ve been to 40 of Top 50 Texas Monthly Barbecues in the state. Well deserving of its #5 spot. Got there at 1030 for the 1100 opening and was #3 in the queue. I had the beef cheeks, brisket, refried beans and kale slaw. Got a sample of their sausage. Very good spot! It’s a food truck lot with picnic benches to sit at and drinks available from the Cosmic restaurant. Will be back.

We got there super late on a Saturday afternoon. Almost all choices were gone. My barbacado was meh, the meat was not great so I just pecked two tiny bites… The loaded pork hash was really good and filling. Honestly I would have eaten just that and be happy. Hopefully I will be back at an earlier time to try the beef cheeks and the brisket.

Ok at best, there is better BBQ elsewhere in Austin, but you’ll be happy here if it’s where you decide to go. Been here both during the week and on Sat.

First BBQ stop in Texas and it did not disappoint. The beef cheeks were fantastic along with the special Sichuan sausage daily special. Frito pie was fantastic as well. No real wait for us, at 12 on a Friday. Would definitely come back!

There is a good reason why L&L BBQ made it to No. 5 on Texas BBQ monthly. The food here is awesome. I had the beef cheeks, pulled whole hog, brisket (only available on the weekends) with a side of kale caesar slaw and the Texas red chili Frito pie. It wad served with a beet and mustard bbq sauce. I have to say everything I had was delicious. Honestly I was a little worried about the beef cheeks because I have never had them before but, they were very tender and flavorful, just as good if not better then brisket. If you plan on going, go early. I was told lines are shorter during the week vs the weekend. The only negative I can think of was the line moves very slow but that’s just because they providing great customer service. Highly highly recommended. It’s worth the wait.

Probs my favorite food truck in austin at the moment and single-handedly the best barbecue I’ve had in a while. I was blown away by the tenderness of the beef cheeks. The chorizo and papa side had lots of chorizo so be prepared for that. I come to cosmic café for the sole purpose of eating this truck. The earlier the better.

My #1 Austin BBQ experience. Got here 45 min before opening on Sat. No one in the line. 15 min before opening, one person got in line and before you know it 30 people are in line! Advice is get here 30 min early and chill at the tables next to the truck. Owner even talked to everyone in line, super friendly folks! Beware, once the line gets long it can take an hour or more.
