Our waitress Abdie (sorry if I mispelled, forgot to take a note), was a one woman army. She refilled waters, bussed tables, and landed completed plates like a machine.
I haven’t had a Vanilla vinaigrette before, but it made for a really nice salad. Their Steaks are perfectly cooked. I personally found the duck wings and the Toffee dessert to be my two favorites dishes of the night.
I hope I get to come back here during a normal service. Great food!
I came back recently, end of January, and had both lunch and dinner here on the same day. For lunch I had a Caesar Salad with Steak and my companion had Crispy Shrimp Tacos, both were delicious. For dinner I had the NY Strip and it was wonderful. I do not recall what my dining companion had but it was excellent as well as I tried it myself. The service is excellent and the decor is fine. It’s in the basement of the Franklin and the ceilings are a little bit low (not too bad though) so it can get a little loud if you are near a boisterous group. I have only praise for Legends and it’s by far my favorite dining experience in Deadwood.
The food was top-notch from start to finish. The vanilla fields salad was so unusual but fantastic. I had the bison ribeye and the potatoes au gratin which both melted in my mouth. My husband has the steak Oscar with crab and the truffle mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was the worst thing we ate and was still delicious. We finished with the bananas foster creme brulee and peach bourbon cheesecake and they were divine. We were so stuffed!
Two days later, we had to return to try the breakfast menu, and again, incredible. The frosted flakes french toast was scrumptious, but the country fried beef tips were the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life.
We did make a reservation and were seated nearly immediately but the restaurant was full. I would definitely make a reservation next time we’re back.
I’m not against sitting at the bar, especially for a burger or something, but we were out for a special evening and it just seemed weird to not be seated when so many tables were open. We decided instead to try our luck for a table somewhere else.
As we were on our way out, a waitress named Abiah caught us and said she was willing to stay on and seat us. We didn’t want to make her stay late, and the other waiter seemed a bit put out by it, but she insisted so we decided to give it a go.
And I’m glad she did, because we had a very impressive meal! The bar does have a good selection and offers interesting and creative cocktails, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal and a memorable dinner out.
But I wanted to make this review especially for Abiah and thank her for the generosity and kindness she showed us. Without that effort on her part I would have moved on and forgotten this place altogether. Her service was excellent and I was so impressed by her professional and personable manner.
All I can say is thank you, Abiah.
That really made date night a memorable one and it is very much appreciated.
