Reviews
The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance, the lighting and overall vibe were really good and cozy. However, the tables were placed a bit too close to each other. It was hard not to overhear the conversations from the tables beside us, which took away from the overall dining experience and made it feel less intimate.
Service-wise, the timing was quite slow. After we were seated, it took about 5 minutes before anyone approached us. The wait time between dishes felt long, and the main course took about 25 minutes to arrive. Since it was busy, we tried to be understanding, but the pacing definitely affected the experience.
Maybe it would be best to visit when it’s not as busy for a better overall experience. That said, I do hope that whether it’s busy or not, there’s a consistent standard and quality of both service and food.
Starters:
Wonton Chicken was cold and dry, and the Mango Salad was soggy and watery, like it had been sitting too long and already premixed that you can taste that it’s not fresh anymore.
Main courses:
Holy Basil Grilled Pork Benedict wasn’t hot and the bread was already hard, while the Neua Krapow had hot rice but a cold egg.
Fo the Desserts we had Coco Ice Cream and Thai Tea Cake, both were EXCELLENT, the only highlight of the meal.
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible experience, but it didn’t fully meet expectations either.
I had the prawn pad Thai and it comes with dried shrimp in it and its very strong. If you expected the usual taste of pad thai, this will be a little different.
Appetizers were delicious. I highly recommend the crispy taro.
All the sauces served in the mains and appetizers we had were delicious too.
The Tom Yum Cream Spaghetti with Grilled Prawns was also very good. Bold, fragrant, and unique, though a bit too oily for my taste.
The only letdown was the Thai Iced Tea, which was unfortunately watered down.
Service was friendly and attentive, but the wait time was almost 40 minutes for the food.
Overall, great dishes and warm service, just wish the drinks and wait times were better. I’d still recommend trying it!
Dessert, however, was a highlight—the Mango Sticky Rice was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is cozy, but the tables are very close together, making it hard to have a conversation without overhearing neighboring tables, and the music was quite low, which didn’t help the atmosphere. Overall, good starters and dessert, but the main course and cramped seating were letdowns.
Came here last night for Winterlicious to try a new spot and was NOT disappointed.
It was surprisingly empty despite it being Winterlicious and a weekend (Sunday). But honestly I’m glad it was because we had a great experience. The staff were super attentive and friendly, and it was nice to see that the manager, Samantha, was heavily involved in bringing dishes out and greeting customers.
The $45 dinner menu was a GREAT value. The portion size and taste of the food was surprising to us given how lots of other restaurants usually skimp out on portion size when it comes to Winterlicious. But Le Lert made sure we enjoyed our first experience here.
GET THE PORK RIB APPETIZER. I’m not one for spice, but it was barely spicy and the ribs were LITERALLY fall off the bone. It was cooked SO well I could eat an entire plate of it.
The mango salad was a bit too sour for my personal taste, and it didn’t help that I have a canker sore but I’m not going to penalize them for it. My bf loves sour things so he enjoyed it.
The drinks were made so well and priced affordable also. Definitely try their alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
As for the mains, our favourite was the Tom Yum cream spaghetti with grilled prawns. Again, Tom yum is usually spicy but the cream mutes it so much that it’s not spicy at all, and you get all the delicious Tom yum flavour. SOOO good.
The desserts were also both really good. You can tell an Asian person made it because they were not sweet at all. The pandan cake had a good amount of pandan flavouring which I loved and the Thai tea cake was not sweet and easy to eat. The caramel crumble gave it a great texture and added the sweetness it needed. This chef knows what he’s doing.
And finally, we have to commend the service. The staff were so great to us and we got a chance to chat with Samantha, the manager, and she even got us some complimentary drinks to celebrate our milestone. But that’s not why I think the management is great.
You can tell it’s a family-run restaurant. The wife is the manager and her husband is the chef behind the delicious meals. But what I appreciated is that the manager was willing to step in and still serve us our food and at the end of the night I saw her in the bathroom cleaning the toilets. She isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and help out where it’s needed.
I saw some other reviews where service is terrible, and I can see where maybe with the staff size they had and a full restaurant, it’d be difficult, but they’re still working on getting customers and as a business it means they likely can’t afford to hire more staff until they know they have a more steady flow.
All that to say, I would definitely come back and we’ve already recommended this place to our families and friends.
The food itself was good, flavorful and enjoyable as always.
However, the service was disappointing. I arrived around 2:30 PM when the kitchen was close to closing time. The staff said they could still serve me, which I appreciated. But the interaction felt unwelcoming, as if my last-minute order was an inconvenience.
More importantly, my order was missing basic condiments like peanuts and chili, which are usually part of the dish and really make a difference in the overall experience.
While I understand arriving close to closing isn’t ideal, once an order is accepted, the service should still feel respectful and complete.
Great food, but the service that day left me disappointed.
The food was delicious and tender with rich sauces, and while fairly true to Thai origins had some nice fusion concepts.
Such a great hidden gem!
