We visited Le Gourmet for our anniversary this year. I gave myself a little time before I wrote this review. I will preface this to say I am an experienced fine dining server/trainer. I will begin with the most pleasant part of our experience which was Juan, the server. He was extra attentive to our table (we were the only table for the first 80-90 minutes of our visit). I think had he been properly trained as a fine dining server, he would have excelled. But for lack of training, he was an excellent server; as was the young woman bussing our table. When we entered the restaurant there was no hostess, the server just pointed towards the booths and asked us to take a seat. I let him know we had made reservations (on which I noted it was our anniversary). I notices the place setting had only one fork and 1 butter knife. We were offered menus, wine and he told us the specials. I was disappointed they did not have monkfish as stated on their online menu; which had been the deciding point on choosing Le Gourmet. After looking over the menu, we ordered escargot and shrimp appetizers to start. The escargot was served nicely hot and we enjoyed it; however, I have definitely had better. The shrimp was flavorless and I had to ask for a lemon to squeeze over it to give it flavor. We then split a Caesar salad with anchovies and little store bought croutons, aside from the tiny croutons, I enjoyed my salad. My husband had the lamb, which he liked very much. I ordered the Calamari steak which had the same flavorless sauce as the shrimp. I quickly realized it was missing the capers mentioned in the menu description. Once Juan retrieved the capers from the chef, the calamari was delicious. In my opinion, the potatoes were over whipped and the carrots could have been poached a little longer; but the asparagus was perfection. Aside from having to ask for bread, once we received it, Juan made sure our bread basket stayed full. No I like that the butter served with the bread was not overly cold and was spreadable. We finished with the molten chocolate cake for desert, which I think was well done. The desert was beautifully presented and delicious, would recommend. I will say that I was disappointed that our anniversary was never acknowledged. I feel bad for having to say that overall I left there feeling like it was an overpaid Denny’s like experience because I would not want to hurt Juan’s feelings. Juan is a very friendly, attentive server that has amazing potential as a fine dining server with training. The restaurant overall has potential I think, I know that post-pandemic is still a difficult time; it just missed the mark in too many areas. My main disappointment was in the food, I wish it was as delicious as it was presented.

This is not French in the traditional sense. The food is more like a Salisbury steak TV dinner served with mash potatoes Vs Lyonnaise. The salad was iceberg with grocery store level blue cheese. I asked for a new bottle of wine, which the sever scratched out the original date. Over priced, no bar and mediocre food.

Such a good hidden gem! This is our third time visiting and the food is always delicious. Our service could not have been any friendlier and we enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the restaurant.

The food was excellent, the waiter was kind. I had the sword fish with a lemon sauce, mashed potatoes, carrots, green beans. Carrot soup was superb. The frog legs with garlic sauce and parsley was excellent. And the Grand Marnier Soufflé was a great end to a good meal.

A real gem tucked into a shopping center. Staff, Food and atmosphere well above average. Our party of 4 enjoyed every bite of our dinner. If you want a special treat, do not hesitate to make a reservation. I enjoyed Crab Cakes and Rack of Lamb. Don’t forget their decadent desserts to finish off your meal.

We come here every time we are in Upland at Dr. Lee’s. The crepes with the beshamel sauce are great, the service perfect. And the souffle for desert is a must.

I must warn the reader of this review. This is going to be a long and glowing review of Le Gourmet. If you aren’t interested in the long and detailed description of my experience you can read the next line and move on. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! Now get in your car and go there. Now, on to the details. The reason for my visit tonight was for my Mother’s birthday. There 4 of us. We decided to each get something a little different so we could experience a little bit of everything. Let me start with our waiter, Chase, he was amazing, kind, courteous and has some fantastic family history to go with the restaurant, so, if he is your waiter be sure to ask about his relationship to the restaurant. On to the food, we tried 3 appetizers; frog legs, escargot, and the calamari. All were exceptional. The calamari was lightly breaded and a perfect consistency, the grog legs were delicious and the escargot was perfectly cooked and did not have that rubbery texture that you sometimes get when it’s over cooked. The bread tasted fresh and reminded of bread that I had from a bakery in Portugal. Light and airy and filled with flavor, perfect for dipping into your left over sauces from your appetizers. On to the main courses; we had the duck confit, chicken cordon bleu, Two Tournedos (2 4oz steaks covered in sauce), and the cojille san Jaques, scallops and shrimp (that’s probably misspelled). All were absolutely delicious. The sauces were excellent and all the meat was cooked perfectly. The duck was probably the star of the show between the 4, but all were fantastic. They came served with cooked carrots and green beans the likes of which I have never tasted, I can’t eat green beans, they trigger my gag reflex and yet these beans were not only edible, but delicious! The mashed potatoes were beautifully piped, not just flopped on your plate. That’s another thing, the presentation was excellent. Ok, on to dessert, the creme brulee was excellent, the grand marnier soufflé was to die for (note that it’s only served on Wednesdays), and the flan was delicious, it was free for my Mother’s birthday. Finally, the whole meal was topped off with a delicious cup of espresso. Also, the wine selection is well curated. Affordable, but not terrible. All were good selections from my perspective. This was an experience on a whole new level. Please take the opportunity to visit this French restaurant. The chef is amazing, the food is amaxing, the service is amazing. This was, by far, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had.
