Had a great breakfast here! We split the redfish and tamale benedicts and the tamale benedits were crazy good! The redfish was good also but I’m not a big fish eater. Coffee was good also. In an adorable area for exploring. Insane amount of pancakes per order lol!

We have had great food and a great experience every time we go. The kids look forward to La Lou. We had the blackberry biscuits, seasonal pumpkin pancakes, Belgian waffle with chocolate chips, Lakeshore Dr scramble with La Lou grits, and the Folsom omelet with La Lou grits. La Lou grits come with bacon, green onions, and cheese. All of the servers are welcoming and friendly.

Must say… we were disappointed. Started with chaos at the hostess stand. We were told there was a 20 minute wait but then told that outside was first come first serve.
We decided to sit off the front porch waiting for our server, menus and drinks. When she came, we had to ask for menus and alcoholic drinks were on a separate menu.
The presentation of the food was nice, but it ended up being ok, not great.
We had the Blue crab Benedict & Chicken & Waffle. The Benedict was so so… English muffin was not toasted/warm, the eggs were overcooked and the grits were ice cold.
The chicken & waffle was just ok … and lukewarm.
It’s a quaint little cafe… we were hoping for a better experience.

Brunch at Lalou was absolutely worth the wait! The place is charming and cozy, and even though they were packed, we were seated in about 30 minutes.
My eggs Sardou were fantastic, and everyone else in our group loved their meals too — clean plates all around! Great food, great atmosphere, and clearly a local favorite for a reason. We’ll definitely be back.
Highly recommend for brunch in Mandeville!

Arrived on a rainy day and waited about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Someone finally said they’d be right with us, but another 10+ minutes passed. During that time several employees walked past us and no one offered to help, seat us, or give us any kind of update.

If you plan to come here, make sure you have plenty of time to wait. Regardless of how busy a restaurant is, someone should at least communicate with guests and let them know about the wait.

The food is delicious, and when the staff does speak to you they are friendly.

It was really cute & homey. The food was good, very flavorful! Seating is a little tight. However, they make it work. My only complaint is wait time. & im not talking wait for food, just anything. To meet your waitress, to get your order in, to get your condiments or refills. I enjoyed talking with friends while there, so I wasnt overly annoyed but here a few tables complain, I can see how that could get annoying.
Some wait staff was super friendly, others were just there so the dont get fined ‍♀️ but overall very cute! Idk that id vista again.
Oh! They did have a biscuit appetizer with blackberry jam, OMGeeeee! So delicious!

Sunday breakfast. 20 minute wait. Every single item of food carried by looked and smelled absolutely wonderful! HUGE portions. An order of pancakes gives you three each the size of the plate so just get a snaller side order if you don’t want that many. The appetizer of waffle bites is a meal for two. Eggs, grits and bacon all cooked to perfection. Great coffee. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Great old house character with local artist art works for sale. Despite the busy time we never felt rushed by the waitress. Parking lot across the street. Dog friendly outdoor seating.

I can’t really rate the food at the location. We never really had a chance to try it. Three of our party of four were seated when the woman running front of house cause an altercation yelling at a grandmother grandfather and my wife because I had not yet arrived at the table! My family departed the restaurant because of this woman’s attitude and retired across the street to the porch, where we were deciding where we were going to have breakfast and recover from the verbal abuse haled at us by this out of control woman. While picking our breakfast spot five of Mandeville‘s finest police showed up to “investigate“. Oh my God, what’s wrong with these people. Hence the low rating and I cannot evaluate the food nor will I ever please please please spare yourself from verbal abuse from the front house staff avoid this establishment.

First time here. The building is old and unique. Nice ambiance. The grits were very good. Authentic. My husband and I both had the Lamarque St Scramble and we found it very flavorful. We will certainly be back!
