Great food. (Definitely) enough food. Hot food! This is NOT a hold some pre-made ingredients in a bag, or part of your meal in a warmer or under a lamp some place. Anyone can see and TASTE a freshly made plate! We’ve been going to Lalo’s Tacos for about 3yrs when we visit each spring and fall. The service is always friendly and helpful. The interior may not be fancy BUT it (and the bathroom) is always clean! Since we began eating there, when it was in Buxton — they are in Avon now near Fran and Fran’s — we have consistently experienced a good meal, at a reasonable price, and in a reasonable amount of time considering they make everything fresh. Ownership should be proud of themselves. This place is fantastic!

TRY THE FISH TACOS!!! Yup, another review of the amazing fish tacos. Fresh fish, lightly battered and fried to perfection. Special sauce, fresh greens and herbs. Pastor & Asada tacos are our favorite too omg. We support them because the food is fresh, portions generous and price is right too. Not too many places you still feel a great bang for your hard earned buck. But this is it. Their story is amazing too; from restaurant cook, to opening in shared space, to their own location. It’s the dream. Best of wishes. Thanks for the many years of great food, hard work and dedication. Have to say we saw other items on the menu, all of which looked amazing. As far as the pizza goes, haven’t tried it but we saw boxes and boxes going out the door during our visit.

The fish tacos are amazing! They give you three huge tacos, plenty for leftovers. We also got the milenesa torta which was also delicious. Food is hot and made to order, can’t get any better.

Of course you don’t wanna cook the last night before checking out of your OBX vacation rental house, ordered pickup from here for the first time and it was absolutely delicious and staff was very friendly while taking my order over phone. Asked for extra crispy and my pizza was cooked PERFECTLY! Will def order from here again whenever I come back to Avon.

Our family of four visited on a Sunday evening when many other local restaurants are closed. The only disappointing thing is they say have dining in available. They have a very small area where you can eat on-site indoors. There are some tables outside.
The food was terrific. We ordered the nachos and loaded fries. Both were tasty. For our main courses we had the 3 tempura shrimp tacos, antipasto salad, the beef tongue tacos, and the steak tacos. Everyone enjoyed the well flavored food. It came out pretty quickly.
This restaurant also has a split Italian and Mexican menu. It was a good experience, just be prepared to take out or eat outside. Lots of people were ordering take out and picking up orders while we waited and ate our meal.

We had the best tacos in Hatteras Island at Lalo’s Tacos. We tried the Al Pastor and Carne Asada which were both delicious but the real winner here was the fish tacos – the portion of the fish was generous, the fish was crispy, hot and fresh! I highly recommend this place If you are looking for authentic Mexican tacos.

I know—pizza and tacos? Who would’ve thought! But Lalo Tacos and Pizzeria makes it work in the best way. The food was absolutely delicious; I had to go back for another round of the shrimp tacos (they’re that good). Highly recommend giving this place a try. The decor is pretty minimal, but honestly, that’s okay—the food speaks for itself.

Lalo’s Tacos is a hidden OBX treasure — the most authentic tacos I’ve had since leaving California six years ago.
I started with a carne asada quesadilla with green peppers and Oaxacan cheese — rich, melty, and great quality meat. My date’s fish tacos were fresh and flavorful (the sauce!), but the al pastor tacos stole the show: tender, with a little surprise pineapple in there. Absolutely perfect.
Don’t skip the verde hot sauce — it ties everything together. Lalo’s is a must-stop. Bravo!
