Great authentic Haitain food. The food is made fresh and the portions are good. However, the staff were not the friendliest. We wanted to purchase more items but it seemed like we were bothering her. I wish the experience was different because the food was delicious.

I drove from Boston to New Jersey for the Memorial weekend, i intended to vigorously eat my country made cuisine and Lakay Restaurant met all expectations. The ingredients was purely implemented with love and the right dosage. The griot was well fried, the djondjon rice had the authentic taste. The manager accommodated my patience with a Haitian mac and cheese(Delicious). The only recommendation is that the menu is not displayed whether digitally or physically but if you know your Haitian Meal that is the place to be.

First time visiting. Ok welcoming . Person who took order didn’t speak an English well and I asked her if there is Black rice she said no but I saw $4 extra for Black rice. Plus she charged wrong gave me less change . It’s annoying to start but I ordered Griyo (fried pork ) and rice with bean. It’s takes 15 minutes to be ready but foods was delicious. Salad was fresh. Especially rice was just right! I will give a try again. I recommend who wants authentic Haitian food.

The food and service here was amazing!!! I took my little sister out here and she was so happy! We got the large turkey and chicken dishes (I forget their names) but the amount and quality of food we were served for what we paid for was EXCELLENT! Tons of people were also coming in/out to pick up orders. I highly recommend visiting Lakay!

I placed my order at the restaurant. It takes time to make the food so ordering ahead for pickup is a smarter move. After I placed my order, it took over 45 minutes for 2 dishes, griyo and chicken to be completed. There was one order ahead of mine. I waited inside and eventually went outside to get some air. There were no spaces in front of the restaurant when I arrived. I parked a few blocks away. The food was packaged well. The price is a little high for the amount of meat in a large order. The beans and rice taste similar to the Jamaican style of beans and rice. I expected it to be different since this is a Haitian restaurant. I was able to get about 4 plates of food from the 2 large dishes. Not shown in the picture is the Haitian macaroni and cheese. The griyo was spot on and the chicken was very good.
Soup joumou is every other Saturday. Best to call ahead. There was no more black rice when I ordered early evening at 5pm. It is rice cooked in water that is soaked with black mushrooms. Black rice, soup joumou and griyo are a must try for those who are new to Haitian food.
