My husband and I were originally going to dinner somewhere that doesn’t take reservations and we couldn’t get in. We decided to check out La strada instead as it was close by. When we walked in, the male older host was SO rude. He didn’t say hello or anything. Just said “no reservation?” I said no and he quite literally scoffed at my husband and I , rolled his eyes and told us to take a seat. There was an open table directly behind him so he sat us five mins later. So not sure what the issue was wish us not making a reservation?
There were only 2 servers working in the entire restaurant. The male server was super nice (dark haired male) and told us he’d be right over, but no one came over for 20 more minutes. The female waitress who couldn’t seem to be bothered finally came over. She did not greet us or tell us any specials. She literally just came over and said “are you ready yet?”…. We didn’t want to wait any longer so my husband and I placed our orders right away. The food came quickly , but we waited a while for boxes when we were finished. The male server got the boxes for us. The female waitress only came back over once and we felt like we were inconveniencing her to do her job. The male server seemed to be working most of the tables himself and I felt really bad for him. He was super kind and was definitely trying his best in an understaffed restaurant.
Thankfully the food was good, but due to the awful, rude and slow service we won’t be coming back here.
My business partner and I are from out of town and decided to stop in for a late lunch. The owner Michael, host Larry, and waiter Jason are the most hospitable group of gentleman I have encountered in a long time. If the impeccable service was not enough the cuisine at La Strada will surely win your heart. The appetizer, main course, and desert were delicious!! I can’t wait for another occasion to visit their restaurant. Every second of the hour and fifteen minute drive was well worth it. Bravo!!
La Strada: a pretty good Italian BYOB. comfortable cozy ambience, white tablecloths.
Our server MaryBeth: bee’s knees wonderful, friendly, informative of the menu items and their specials, the quintessential server. The rest of the staff: the busboys, food runners, complemented the servers, were spot on and attentive.
Our appetizers: the carciofo francese: artichokes served in a way I’ve never had before, they were great! The calamari fritti al Modena was amazing: crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside, drizzled with a balsamic reduction and…Asian chili sauce?… that baffled us, being that we weren’t expecting that from Italian cuisine… nevertheless, we devoured it and I would order that calamari again!
The entrées: the braised veal osso bucco with risotto and fresh vegetables was tasty and everything I hoped for and expected. The gnocchi al limone: the dumplings were soft, but chewy(my dining partner has very high expectations from a gnocchi); the sauce was good, the added shrimp perfect.
The desserts: my tartufo selectIon, a deep rich chocolate ice cream with a lovely chocolate shell was delish. The homemade tiramisu was it tasty puzzlement(you know how you expect to see a dessert, and it’s presented to you in a different way?)
Good food, FANTASTIC serving staff, lovely vibes. We had a wonderful experience!
