I come to La Semilla Bakery very often and usually love their food and pastries — they’re honestly great.
Today the place was extremely busy and they were out of proper containers, so they gave me a large plastic shopping bag filled with sauce. That was really off-putting and felt unsanitary, so I didn’t feel comfortable eating it.
I understand being slammed, but food packaging and hygiene should never be compromised. I’m hoping this was a one-off, because I genuinely enjoy this bakery and want to keep coming back.

I ordered beef and chicken corn empanadas also a Colombian coffee with Ecuadorian Pan de yuca!!! Loved it!
The empanadas have a lot of protein and are Gluten free as everything I ordered.
The colombian coffee never disappoints.

This was our very first time. Our experience was not very pleasant, cannot even score the service and atmosphere. There was no greetings at all at our arrival, when we asked about the hot breakfast no suggestions were given, the girl just pointed to the menu when my husband asked for something with bread and eggs, she was not very helpful, seems as she was not happy to be there. I asked for a chicken empanada which was delicious, however when I asked for the sauce I was told to self-served myself and was pointed to the fridege to get it. No spoon was given for the coffee. When the owner arrived a few minutes after, he greeted the clientele was there and at check out when my husband asked one of the two ladies there she just breezed by and waved my husband without answering his question, to what the owner started a statement that he did not finished. Maybe something could be done about this to improve. It is hard to see business go the opposite way just for bad service no matter how good prices you have and how great the food is. In this type of business, especially small businesses, good service is NOT optional, IT IS A MUST!!!!

We found this bakery while trying to find some Cuban sandwiches to bring home. Boy, are we glad we stopped by. The sandwiches were so good as well as the empanadas! The only thing that was difficult for us, no on spoke English and the bakery/food items were not labeled in English-so it was hard for us to buy more items.

I stopped by because I really like the empanada cambray, you guys usually make them really well. But this time I bought three, for work even worst and all of them were hard as a rock. I was going to come back to return them, but I had to head to work. If the bread isn’t being made fresh, something definitely needs to be addressed, because they were completely inedible. Very disappointing.

Hands down, this guy has the best recipe for pan de bono, soft,sweet and salty deliciousness. I took a star because the pan de yuca and my cuban toasts were hard, chewy and a bit stale tasting. The tequeños and cheese rolls were amazing. I am a fan.

There is no place in Tampa bay that has better Pan de bono !!! I have loved this place and stuck with this place since my 9 year old was born and thru the loss of a pregnancy ! Carolina y familia are always there with smiles and ears for listening to you !! Their food has stood the test of time even thru covid and new cooks ( forgive my deleted review I was pregnant hungry and hormonal !! There isn’t a single item in the menu that isn’t made with love and flavor ! I highly recommend the Cuban sandwich, breakfast sandwich, of course pan de bono . If you need a protein packed and delicious breakfast the bistek is spit in ever time !
