This is an excellent spot for delicious Mexican food. While it is on the pricier side, the food is generally stellar. On my first visit, we ordered the yuca bites, chips and salsa, a vegan mushroom burrito, a chicken quesadilla, sangria, and one of their fresh juices. Everything was amazing.

That said, the prices are a bit outrageous, so be prepared. If you are a party of six or more, or if your bill exceeds $95, an 18% gratuity is automatically added. It is stated on the menu, but it is still something to keep in mind. The atmosphere is great, and they offer karaoke on Fridays, which is a fun touch.

One downside was being charged $2 for a small to-go container of poblano mayo, which felt excessive and unnecessary. On my second visit, I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which I would not recommend. Unfortunately, they made me feel sick afterward.

Despite the drawbacks, I will definitely be back, but just be aware that they charge extra for nearly everything.

After seeing an advertisement on Facebook about this restaurant, we decided to try it for their ugliest Christmas sweater contest!! It did not disappoint! The place was decorated for the holidays. The staff was amazing.. Maria, the hostess was the best!! I’m in the hospitality business and she was definitely 5 stars!! Angel, our server was spectacular also. The margaritas were on point! It’s definitely a fun spot and a must try!!

La Mexicana has amazing vibes, delicious food and great music that makes you feel like you’re on vacation. The tacos and burrito were full of flavor, and the atmosphere is fun and colorful. Big and special shoutout to JJ, our server who made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed the entire night. His service was outstanding from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing time at this hippie-style Mexican street taco spot! The atmosphere is super chill and fun, and Angel, our server, made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and really fit the laid-back vibe of the place.

The margaritas were fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and just the right kick. And the Tuesday savings are unbeatable; it’s definitely the best day to come if you want great food and drinks at a great price.

Thanks to Angel and the whole team for an awesome visit. Can’t wait to come back! ✨

f you’re looking for a Mexican restaurant that actually delivers—this is the one. The food is consistently incredible: bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and that perfect balance between comfort and craftsmanship. Every dish tastes like it was made with care, not rushed out of a kitchen.

But what truly elevates the experience is the bar—and Angel, the bartender. Angel isn’t just pouring drinks; he’s creating an experience. His cocktails are perfectly balanced, creative, and made with intention. He remembers what you like, makes spot-on recommendations, and brings a welcoming, fun energy that makes you want to stay for “just one more.”

Great food, great vibes, and a bartender who genuinely cares about your experience—Angel alone is a reason to come back. Highly recommend. ✨

Excellent experience at Mexicana Taco Bar. The food was flavorful and authentic, but the highlight for me was their special mezcal cocktail, perfectly balanced, smoky, and incredibly smooth. It truly elevated the whole dinner.
Teresa was outstanding. Attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. She made us feel more than welcome and took great care of us throughout the evening. Definitely coming back.

✨️Tourist Trap ✨️.

This place was decorated really nice. It really sets the ambience for a good, relaxed hangout spot. It was very colorful and had good lighting, just a bit too loud outside.

The menu looked pretty promising too, offering a variety of authentic Mexican dishes.

However, the food and service left a lot to be desired. We ordered:

Birria Nachos – It was served on a tiny 1/8 tray and cost almost $20. The birria had no defining, classic flavors and tasted like a simple shredded beef. It was also not served with the consomé.

Pork Belly Taco Platter: The server told us they were completely out… after half an hour of ordering (we finished our appetizer by this time).

Enchiladas: It had a good amount of protein. It wasn’t served rolled up though and had no lettuce or sour cream. The tomatillo was okay.

Fish Taco : Was almost $7 for a little Taco that had maybe 1 oz of fish. None of the tacos were served with limes. It also taste like it had tartar sauce…

Rice and beans: This came with all of the meals. The beans were beyond salty though.

Street Corn: It looked pretty and the corn was boiled perfectly. But it tasted so bad. Tasted like simple mayo, cheese and barely any tajin.

Guac: Not much flavor

Maybe the server was new, not sure:

1. Besides the last minute realization of 86 Pork Belly, our food was not ran together. 2 of 3 got food, the last person had to wait 10 minutes. Who ever is expediting should know to run the food together, and the kitchen is supposed to make the food by ticket. So food was different temps as we.

2. We were told rice & beans did not come with the enchiladas. We pointed out on the menu it did, then he apologized and said he wasn’t sure at first. The appropriate thing to say would be along the lines of ,” let me double check that for you,” instead of giving out incorrect information.

3. Server never checked back on us after dropping off entrées, just to clear plates and drop the check. It wasn’t until after we got the check he asked how everything was.

I thought this was a new business, so they were still trying to figure things out. But they’ve been here for 8+ years!

This is a TOURIST TRAP, there is nothing authentic about the food.

The reviews most likely come from people enjoying a lunch deal, being tipsy while “enjoying” dinner (they push drinks right off the bat), and blind support from the Wilton Mannors community since this business advertises as LGBTQ+ friendly. I don’t doubt they also purchased reviews, because 4.7 stars with 3k+ reviews does not make sense for food like this.

Hopefully they can pull it together. It’s a nice looking spot and has potential.

Thank you.

In the 30 years of living in SE Florida this was decidedly the most atmospheric and romantic meals, which I can recall having had here. The wonderful cool restaurant is found in a little used garden, a setting far more similar to those that existed long ago in the West Indies when they were secret isles with far fewer tourists and even less gentrification . Scattered around the grounds are mostly closed shops and other bars. Called “The Yard” – an appropriate name, but from a forgotten past, “The Alchemist “, “Lola’s”.plus ruins with wonderful murals As another thunderstorm approached, I quickly headed for the lights of as small outdoor bar with a larger space for indoor A/C heating. The ebullient and welcoming bartender graciously accepted my request for a Vodka Collin’s, once a popular cocktail of days gone by. Happy to comply Teresamade a truly delicious Collin’s – seemingly off the cuff. Now, I was hungry. She advised me of a chicken and pulled ham burrito- presented with a casual at home style with two sauces. Enormous and in the file for comfort food Just plain Delicious. While enjoying all the food and drink, I had been glancing at the rain, which had become torrential – possibly 3” in the hour, so upon leaving, though dry at the bar where I had been, stepping off the raised patio, was a very different story – rainwater soaking me ankle high, but happily,as I had been dining alone, no complaints from anyone, so I walked through the pool of water to my nearby home where my entry door had swollen shut. As I waited, my thoughts were on perhaps the nicest dinner of my decades living here in South Florida. This had been most special. Thank you Theresa and Mother Nature.
