Booked with open table, which was easy. Very accommodating interior and the food matched. The stuffed mushrooms are delicious. I recommend the pappardalle brasato sugo. It was perfect and had plenty of flavor. I will be back to sample other items. This is a restaurant to relax and enjoy yourself, so allow some time for the waitstaff.

Just had the most delicious dinner! La Mensa is a new, beautifully appointed restaurant in Northern Bergen County. And, most importantly, the food is delicious! We ordered 2 appys on the specials menu – crab salad and delicata squash. Both were excellent! Light, inventive and delicious.

A little late but, what a great little place and what an amazing staff. We had a post graduation family dinner of 8, and as usual, the ceremony ran over. We got there 8:15 and they closed at 9. But the staff couldn’t have been nicer and at no time did we feel rushed. The food was fantastic. It is now our restaurant of choice. We also each had something different and all enjoyed.

Had our daughters first birthday here and was very pleased! Our guests raved about the food! The decor was beautiful and they allowed us to bring in our own balloon arch and back drop. Would recommend to have a party here.

We went ro celebrate my mom’s Birthday. From the appetizers to the dessert the food is excellent. The staff is attentive and nice. The stuffed mushrooms were so good. The fish was delicious with spinach and roasted potatoes. Looking forward to visiting again.

This is a wonderful restaurant! The food is delicious and the decor is lovely. I ordered take-out from here once and I made a mistake in my order. I thought I was ordering Chicken Marsala and I accidentally ordered Chicken Milanese. When I called, they made me a new meal without charge even though it was admittedly MY mistake! What warm service. It is easily becoming one of our new favorite places. Heading there tonight!

We made same day reservations for 7:30 and found ourselves lucky to have a table for 6. We arrived 10 minutes late and our table was ready. Unfortunately they were understaffed, but service was not to bad. Everyone server helped each other, I found that a great idea. Even the manager was helping. Food was good, drinks were fairly priced.

Stopped in for an impromptu dinner last night not knowing what to expect since we have not been there since it was ragazzi. We had a fantastic meal – it was delicious, service was wonderful and the decor was beautiful. We will definitely be putting this on our regular restaurant rotation.

I have been to la mensa twice now and both times were amazing. The decor of the restaurant is great. The servers and owner are very kind and attentive. The food is my favorite thing about La Mensa. The presentation is great and the taste is amazing with every dish. My favorite is the branzino. The dessert is delicious and they have the best bread pudding.

So glad we tried this place! Fabulous from the food to the staff!! First off, it was Christmas Eve. When I tried to make a reservation for 16 people a week earlier, they weren’t sure they could accommodate and said they would call back to let me know, and did. Unfortunately, 7 had to cancel and we had to dwindle to 9. The owner, I assume, at La Mensa was so welcoming and on top of everything (Unlike Mr. Cranky Pants at Riggazi.) He was very kind. When one of our party had to leave for a few minutes, the owner immediately noticed what was happening and his plate was put on hold to keep warm. Very efficient. My mom chose not to take her meal home when finished and she was immediately asked if everything was ok with her dish. The food…everything was excellent. Excellent, to the point where we were looking at each other in surprise. We started with appetizers. We had caesar salad, rice balls, eggplant rollatini and meatballs. All great!! The pasta sauce was mild and not the kind that is so robust you can’t taste anything else. I had osso buco which had polenta with a pear glaze. Delicious! Mom had the salmon with artichokes and just loved it. Others had chicken parm and steak. They were very happy with their meals. I had a lemon drop martini and that was delicious, as well. It is on the pricey side for some dishes, in my opinion, but definitely worth it. We had 9 people on Christmas Eve and this restaurant ran so smoothly which is hard to find on a holiday. We had a great time!! Hats off to them!
