Wow! What a comeback!! I will admit we had a pretty rough first experience at La Joie. But my wife and I went back this morning. It was a delight! Delicious pastries, delicious cappuccino and fantastic service. Service is still on the slow side for it being so slow. So I’m holding back a 5 star review. But I will definitely be back to hopefully get them to 5 stars! So happy to see the improvements made. Now just hoping for either a menu board or prices on little description cards would be great. That way I don’t have to feel like an idiot when I point and say “this one, please!” Thank you, La Joie, so happy to have a beautiful bakery in town!

My husband and I went for the grand opening and it was AMAZING! The pastries are so decadent and you can tell care went into every bite. It’s great to have a touch of France here in Redding.

I love the late afternoon/evening hours (it was wrong on google last I checked). Downtown needed a place to meet for a cup of tea or dessert in evening or late afternoon. Thank you La Joie for providing this!!
The cafe is just opening, so have patience! What they bring is special! (For management, some quick things that would improve my experience because I love your concept, your baking, and want you to succeed!! 1)spreading the tables out so they don’t feel so cramped and fill the space more 2) asking counter staff to greet customers like “Hi, welcome!” and when needed “I’ll be with you soon” 3) It’s busy, but attempting to wipe tables … I hope that’s helpful! I love you guys and want you here a long, long time!!)

Quick stop for matcha and coffees. Didn’t stay long. Matcha was good quality, and not sweetened, which I prefer. The mocha started off great but turned out to be a bit of a sugar bomb. Pastries looked incredible though, definitely planning to go back for those!

They only just recently opened and the line was out the door. The staff did a great job keeping up with the demand!
I genuinely hope this place has the success they deserve, you can tell instantly how much effort and care they put into creating a great product and a great atmosphere.

Kate is amazing! Everything from the food to the atmosphere and even the extremely friendly staff was phenomenal!

I have ordered cakes from Kate prior to her opening her bakery and her cakes are hands down some of the best I’ve had. The bakery was very busy the first month with lines that took quite awhile because there were so many people wanting some baked goods. That is to be expected. Some of the reviews I have read are from that time frame. I’ve loved everything that I have had from there and absolutely love the staff there. My boys just love Evan and seeing her smiling face is the cherry on top when we visit!

We’ve been there twice and it’s only their 3rd week. Almond croissant was amazing! So many choices. Just a short line and staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the outdoor patio on a beautiful sunny day.

Not the place for proper croissants. Moving from the Bay Area to Chico, I noticed croissants were sorely lacking. When I saw this place had opened in Redding I thought I would find the croissants I was used to! Unfortunately, that was not the case. When I went it seems they were underproofed, and soft, not crispy and flakey like a proper croissant should be. This was the case with each of the croissant varieties we tried. We also tried some of their other items and they were okay, nothing to write home about. The place is cute but the employees seemed very unorganized and getting drinks was a bit awkward. There’s not even a proper counter spot and the sugar, straws, etc. are across the cafe from where you get said drinks. I’m not sure I’ll be back as it wasn’t the most pleasant experience. It seems they’re more in tune with their branding and “aesthetic” than perfecting their goods and training their employees to smoothly help customers. I guess I’ll keep searching for a great croissant.
