Went for lunch today. I got the Nachos C/ Crema with chicken and loaded. The chips had a nice crunch to them, the chicken was tender and the peppers and onions were a nice addition. I really enjoyed this meal. The service however was slow and waitress was not attentive. When our water glasses were empty it was a long wait for a refill and when we were ready to leave we had to go up to the cashier and she had to produce the ticket. My other issue was our ticket was wrong, they tried to charge us $4.99 extra for guacamole that was on the menu as part of my wife’s meal

For the freshest seafood / Mariscos I will always visit La Jaivita #2. The flavor was incredible. I had the shrimp tostatda as an appetizer & the aguaschiles got the main dish. Delicioso from start to finish! Also enjoyed a Michelada with a chamoy rim. Cold & tasty!

We stopped in for a quick lunch. My husband ordered the loaded nachos. I asked our server what the difference was between the regular quesadilla, which was 6.99 with your choice of meat, and either guacamole or sour cream , you will see I took a picture of the menu ( this is important later in my review). Our lunch came , mine was warm, not hot , but I kept it and did not say anything . How would they heat it without ruining it? The pastor tasted a little sweet , I thought it was cinnamon, I was right ( server talked to cook) , the sauce choices were a red sauce( tasted like thousand island dressing with a slight kick, the other ,better one in my opinion was the green , jalapeno sauce , perfect) the smaller one for 6.99 has 4 pieces ,which for me was perfect. I did enjoy my quesadilla. The atmosphere is ok . The server was ok , the place was not crowded, and yet I had to ask for water and more ice( she barely put any in my first glass). So we are done with our meal , we had never been given a bill ,in spite of sitting there with no food on our plates for over 5 minutes, I had even gone to ladies’ room and back. So we went to register and told the girl out table # . She said wrong order at first , then she got it right as far as what we ate , that is where it ended and the trouble started. She quoted a high ticket price , and we both drank water and did not get chips and salsa , which the server asked if we wanted it , I said no , but she did not mention there is a charge ( who would think that, 99% of mexican restaurants don’t charge for chips and salsa , but some that don’t charge ask) so , I asked what were our charges? She did say what we had , but also said a side of guacamole. No, I did not have extra ( you will see the picture of menu and IT INCLUDED guacamole, I had about 1 tablespoon on top of 1/2 of lettuce , which was fine as I only expected a little ,NOT A SIDE!!When I told her we did not order that and I looked at menu and it did not say extra , and I told her the server did not tell me it was extra. Finally, a 2nd person came to register and voided the entire bill , did a 2nd one without the charge of a side of guacamole. I was glad they changed it , but by that time , I wanted to speak with the manager , I was informed that the person who had been arguing with me was the manager, DAISY. Even though they did take the charge off , which I did appreciate, ” the manager,” never apologized or said she would talk with the server. I did like the food , but if it is an extra charge for 1 tablespoon of guacamole , never mind, especially when coupled with the fact the chips and salsa are not free , there are just too many places to choose from.

Great food. Queso dip and homemade chips and ceviche are good starters. I’d recommend getting the ceviche with the homemade chips and not the 3 tostadas it comes with. Loaded burger and fries is worth the price of $7.99. La javita special is really good if your hungry. Overall it’s good and so are the drinks.

The food was beyond amazing, and our server was on top of her game. I ate the Enchiladas Poblanas. I would drive back the 3 hrs just for them! Thank you to our server. She was still extremely friendly, despite us being there past closing time.

Loved this place back in the day when it was Szechuan Chinese Restaurant, especially the shrimp and combination fried rice! Now that it’s La Jaivita Mariscos, the food is mediocre at best complete with rude staff, slow service and poor customer service. The past three times I have gone to eat, the hostess bluntly tells me that all the tables are full and then I would need to make a reservation or wait. Totally uncalled for the hostess to take out her frustration on customers even though she is overwhelmingly busy. Same with the wait staff, carelessly placing orders without making sure they took it correctly. One of my friends at dinner got the complete opposite of what he wanted for his order of nachos. What a waste of $52 on dinner for all of us! For the rest of us it was slow service and a very noisy atmosphere. If you must eat at this restaurant, go to #1 in town and not this location in the Bluff. Better yet, there are Mexican restaurants in Corpus that serve far better seafood.

This place was A M A Z I N G! THE BEST quesadillas I’ve EVER had. So cheesy and so flavorful, even their white rice was delicious. I know, white rice? That’s what I said when I got my plate, but they KNOW what they’re doing. My fiancé got their poblano enchiladas and they were just as good. Authentic and fresh. I would definitely recommend this place!

First time going to this location will also be my last. The other Mariscos Crosstown @ Port is fantastic! This establishment was spotlessly clean, staff was friendly.. just like the other one, yet for $14.95 I basically received a child’s plate for my order! The shrimp & fish on this seafood platter were like Boat & Net chain take out ($5) quality, the rice & crab salad were excellent. Yet when I left, I felt more hungry than I was when I arrived. I’ll never go back to this Southside location.
