I was very disappointed with my recent purchase. I bought an opera pastry, and when I got home, I realized it was still frozen inside. It did not seem fresh, and I have no way of knowing whether it was made yesterday or earlier.
It is not acceptable to sell desserts without informing customers that they have been previously frozen and defrosted — especially at these prices. Transparency is very important when it comes to food quality and safety.
Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. I cannot recommend this place to anyone who cares about freshness and quality.

Our Favorite Bakery! Enjoy everything about this location! The staff is always SO pleasant and friendly no matter how busy they are. Always going above and beyond to make every visit a Great experience. The manager is the Greatest, I’ve watched her on multiple occasions be kind and extremely patient with customers who were not very nice and is a Joy to watch her do it so gracefully. The interaction with her and other staff always makes my day. Everything is always delicious, of course!

Always amazing service and food. I highly recommend the turkey sandwich and the croissants. Even when they’re out of sandwiches if you ask they’ll make them fresh assuming the still have baggetts available. I also love love love their moose cakes, my husband gets them every year for my birthday.

Had a gift card here and finally stopped in. Delicious baked goods. Like WOW! Service was great! I got a bunch of different things and was not disappointed! The pistachio pastry is delicious! You can’t go wrong with anything!

La Gourmandine bakeries are one of the best bakeries in Pittsburgh, with exceptional baked goods that keep me coming back. The owners are wonderful, always welcoming and clearly passionate about the business.
However, I’ve had some disappointing experiences with customer service at the Mt. Lebanon location. While newer staff members have been pleasant, some of the senior employees could benefit from additional customer service training. I’ve encountered dismissive attitudes and unwelcoming interactions that have noticeably impacted my visits.
The quality of the products is outstanding, but the inconsistent service experience has affected my overall impression. I hope management will address this, as the bakery itself deserves a consistently positive customer experience to match its excellent offerings.

I usually do not write reviews however I wanted to write one so the owner of this establishment realizes that they need to have a conversation with the people that are waiting on their customers. I am also a business owner that works locally and Ashley and internationally has my own organization you would not know that from me coming into your establishment however. However this is the first time that I have been to your establishment and wanted to get some baked goods for my sick mother I also thought that it would be nice to see what types of things you have and if you provide catering services. However it seems to me that the woman that you had working there was more interested in waiting on someone who was there getting a cup of coffee with long dreadlocks instead of even asking me what I was interested in or explaining and telling me what the items were. When I did ask her a few questions she was very annoyed and even when I asked for a bag to carry all of these items in. Now I was in there pretty quickly and only spent a mere $40 I could tell you if she would have been a lot nicer to me I probably would have spent a couple hundred. Because I do have large monthly meetings from anywhere from 30 to 70 people and I’m always looking for someone other than Panera Bread they could give me quality food. However I do not want to deal with somebody that feels that I am inconveniencing them by asking them a question and coming into purchase items from their store I’m sure your things are breathtaking and I would like to continue to do business with you however I think that you need to be aware that the person that you had at the counter obviously has never been an owner of anything and doesn’t worry about customer service and what this could do to a business. Again I would have however like the public to know that your presentation is very nice and that your products look delicious however if they want to go somewhere for friendly atmosphere you do not have it.

Loved the almond croissant at this place. We took that and a chocolate eclair, a macaroon, and a chocolate croissant all to go. Everything was excellent. Mainly on the chocolate croissant… It had like almond flavoring infused throughout the croissant… And not just some icing added on top. It was SO good. But props to my friend that gave us this recommendation. Thanks!

Amazing cafe – feels like I was in Paris. Ordered the pain au chocolat, super flaky and light. Very buttery. Had a tad bit of eggy after taste, but that’s only if I had to be picky. The gourmandise was 10/10 – you have to get it. It’s a pastry, with dark chocolate and “some” berry compote. The quiche was decent as well.

Authentic French food with authentic French service.

While I can appreciate the quality of most products, the interaction with the staff is almost always disappointing. The service is stereotypically French i.e., unnecessarily rude but without any of the professional charm. You feel like an unwelcome interruption rather than a customer. A little more warmth and basic courtesy would go a long way in making the experience match the standard of the pastries.

I hope you’ll consider this feedback for your front-of-house service, as I only shop here for others. All I get is the service.

Just got a few pastries before going out to dinner on Sunday. We went late afternoon and the bakery was pretty busy. We didn’t order any but they also served soup. All the employees were friendly and knowledgeable and pleasant. They have a rewards program for repeat customers. Those pleasantries aside…the most important part…the pastries themselves are decadent and delicious. Very rich, very flavorful, tasty treats.
