The most intimate and unique restaurant setting, and such delicious food! (Note: Cash Only) The chef prepares your meal in a homey open kitchen like you are in nonna’s (grandmother’s) house. The chef curates 6-7 main course or pasta items per meal (different for lunch and dinner), and you choose your desired item. Each meal comes complimentary with minestrone soup, balsamic salad, and garlic bread. As someone who gets overwhelmed with large menus and decision paralysis, this was such a welcome change! We enjoyed our lobster tortelli (large ravioli) and carbonara pasta, and the sangria was fantastic, as good as in Spain. For dessert, the lime custard was fabulous, and the tiramisu looked delectable! They also have an authentic Napoli pizza oven, and the Neapolitan pizza looked amazing. Beautiful for a date night, small group of friends, or solo dining. Lovely place to have a conversation, great acoustics where you cannot hear other tables conversing so it feels like you are in your own little bubble. Felt very European, and we were transported to Italy tonight! Can’t wait to return. *so good we went back for lunch the next day with friends and enjoyed the lasagna, gnocchi alfredo, shrimp fettuccine, four cheese napoli pizza, and tiramisu!

A wonderful discovery of a truly family dinner experience! Our dinner choices of a pizza and ravioli were proceeded by a delightful minestrone soup, small green salad and garlic toasts! Those first courses were unadvertised, so a fun surprise!
The ‘cash only’ was also a surprise, but with few things over 250 pesos, we did fine! The stone fire pizza was so delicious and my spinach-cheese ravioli in pink sauce was homemade pasta and was wonderful!
The restaurant itself is in the family home, which only adds to the cozy, family meal feel!
So very glad we found this gem….will be sending friends here and we’ll be back!

This place is absolutely delicious and adorable. I love their methodology to the menu, which is to say: there isn’t one! It’s a “here are the five or six dishes that we’ve prepared today, pick your favorite” approach that expedites the process and guarantees the highest degree of quality and freshness. The owner is delightfully friendly and beyond welcoming. I didn’t know that lunchtime was cash only and he allowed to me to leave and come back with some cash without a moment’s hesitation. I believe his exact words were “estas en casa” which translates to “you’re home”. It absolutely felt that way. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a cozy, comfortable, home cooked Italian meal.

I loved how intimate this place was. It felt like I was coming over to my family’s house & eating a delicious home cooked Italian meal. The service was amazing! The cucumber & lime aqua Fresca was sooo good. I got the fettuccine with no mushrooms & it came with a minestrone soup & garlic bread. It was delicious!! Def coming back to try the pizza. Atmosphere was awesome too

Air conditioned. Small authentic Italian open for lunch and early dinner. Limited menu of just 4-6 items. Had the bone-in, thick-cut pork chop. Amazing, and not over cooked. Wife had the Mahi. Soup, salad, bread, all complimentary. 10/10 will go again.

Best Italian meal in years. Authentic homemade cooking by a family originally from Italy. HOME MADE pasta, sauces, sausage etc. All cooking from Scratch.

If we could give this restaurant six stars we would. Well worth the short walk from center of town.

PS. A close runner-up for our best meal in Mexico is Casa Oaxaca in Valladolid.

Again home cooking by a chef from Oaxaca.

Bueno Gusto!

I really wanted to like this place. It’s really cute (and air conditioned) inside and has a nice patio area. When you walk in, there is a counter full of cake pans with the food (all at room temperature) available that day. You make your choice and then you are seated. You order your drinks and then you are brought your soup and bread sticks which come with your meal. Then a small salad is served. Your entree is microwaved and brought after the salad. I ordered the chicken parmesan ($180), and although it tasted ok, it was a really thin piece of chicken and I’m not even sure it had been heated at all because it was still room temperature when I received it. It came with a side of pasta. My fiance had the lasagna ($168), and it had definitely been heated more thoroughly than mine. The soup needed salt, but was full of vegetables. The salads were good and had what tasted like a raspberry balsamic dressing, and the bread was tasty. The entrees were ok. We also had a liter of pineapple water ($90) with what appeared to be basil (or mint? I couldn’t taste it), and it was refreshing.

I love everything about La Cucina Italiana – so much that we went for dinner two nights in a row! We tried carbonara, fettuccine with sausage and mushrooms, beef rib with mashed potato and chicken parm and everything was delicious. Meals come with soup, salad and garlic bread and are priced very reasonably especially since it’s the best Italian we’ve had in Cozumel. The atmosphere is homey with an open kitchen that feels like you’re at grandma’s which is fitting since the recipes used have all been passed down through generations. The staff is friendly and welcoming and even was kind enough to hold a portion of one of the daily specials for my husband on a promise that we’d be back.

Wow, what an amazing place. Just a few blocks from the main road. La Cucina has amazing Italian dishes with recipes from a woman and her mom. We came and had sangria, minestrone, beef carpaccio, carbonara, and the Tiramisu for dessert. Not a single plate disappointed and all of this came to a little over 800 pesos ($42 USD.) I couldn’t believe such great food for such a great price. We sat outside in a little courtyard with light and vines growing overhead. Definitely our favorite place on the island. So don’t be turned off when you walk into the restaurant to order and see what looks like a normal household kitchen (because it is), but what comes out of it is out of this world.

We had a great lunch the wife and a friend celebrating the wife’s birthday. We looked at the meals available they are primarily an Economica restaurant with pasta and pizza also available. The breaded chicken parm looked the best for our choices, lots of choices on drinks including sangria. The soup was minestrone a simple salad with garlic bread then the main course, a panko breaded chicken beast covered with Parmesan cheese with a side of pasta! Or selection was a perfect size, thinking next time I’ll try the lasagna!
