Best Tamales I’ve ever had. Every time I go they are always fresh, hot and not dried out like the ones I’m used to at other places around here. The breakfast burritos are amazing and is great for a quick breakfast on the go. This is one of my favorite places to eat now.

Simple, but excellent Mexican food. Tamales, empanadas, etc. DELICIOUS! Everything is made fresh. The people here are kind and helpful. There are a few vegetarian options too. (Cheese and jalapeno tamales and empanadas.) There are a few seats inside if you want to eat there, but tamales also travel very well.

Love their food and hours!! I’ve Had their chorizo with egg and potato with egg burritos. Yum. I also enjoyed their tamales. They have have a great selection of tamales! I’ve tried both the Green and red tamales as well as there banana leaf. The Jalapeño and cheese was great. I Loved them all. I definitely recommend them fried. Be prepared to stand there and ponder all the options of tamales. Definitely will continue going. Thanks for coming to Athens!!!!!! Wish they had a buy and get free frequent punch card!!

Wow, what a great addition to the city of Athens. They have a varied menu of tamales including banana wrapped ones and they were all excellent. The green and red sauces were great as well. Definitely try this place out, you can walk in and out with an amazing breakfast or lunch you can eat on the go. They will explain the whole menu if you need but you can’t go wrong with pork or chicken tamales. Very friendly staff.

I came in to get some breakfast burritos and decided to get a couple tamales for lunch later in the day. The steak burrito was okay and the chorizo one was better. The highlight though was for lunch when I ate the tamales. By far some of the best tamales I’ve had! The red sauce that came with it had some heat to it but a great flavor. I will definitely be returning to try more of the tamale options!

Went to Casa del Tamal today on 1/11, around lunch time. The place was packed. We ordered their Torta’s (Cubana, Chorizo & Mexicana Tortas), Chicken & Steak Empanadas, and Tamales. They were sold out of tamales unfortunely, but they had a couple left and they gave them to us for free to try (Strawberry & Cheese/Jalapeno) – wow, they were delicious! When we got home, we tried all of our food and wow – delicious! 5/5, highly recommend. I’m glad to have an authentic restaurant in Athens, and I truly hope that the local family that owns this restaurant thrives. Athens needs to support them!
