Really loved this place! It’s small and cozy, and sitting near the kitchen lets you feel all the great energy. We were a group of four and waited about 30 minutes. If you don’t want to wait too long, the tip is to come during non-peak hours or a little before peak to beat the rush.

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly in getting us seated, and they have a fair policy where your entire party must be present to seated. We had a few minor mix-ups with our orders, but the team was quick to fix them and made everything right.

I had the French Onion burger, which was unique and delicious. We also ordered sides of fries that come separately. They are definitely worth it as well. I’m already looking forward to coming back!

We went to La Bonne Vache for lunch/brunch on Sunday, and the place was extremely busy. We sat at the bar, which turned out to be quite nice and comfortable.

We started with the steak tartare, which was absolutely delicious. For our entrées, after reading all the great reviews, we ordered one burger and a Croque Madame burger. The burgers don’t come with sides, so we added an order of French fries, which was a generous portion and perfect for sharing. Both burgers were excellent. We also ordered a side of grilled bread to go with the tartare—there was a small $2 charge, but it was totally worth it.

The staff were really friendly, and the overall atmosphere and restaurant setup made the experience even better. I highly recommend this spot, and we’ll definitely be back to try more dishes.

The best twist on a burger I’ve ever had! I came to La Bonne Vache for lunch during my bachelorette trip and was welcomed by the owner himself! Him and all the staff were so friendly and kind to me and my group. I got the Truffle Brie Burger and fries, I also tried my friends food and everything was delicious. Atmosphere was amazing, felt like I was in a European restaurant. Highly recommend stopping here if you are in the Georgetown area!

Great experience here. The staff is awesome, very friendly. Guillermo is a sweetheart of a man and generously took care of a beer for me when I had to run out to help a friend I was waiting for with a flat tire. Once we got back we had the classique and bourguignon burgers and a side of fries as well as a couple of beers. Will definitely be back to try more of their food.

La Bonne Vache was an absolutely incredible dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and full of character — a true French charm right in the heart of Georgetown. Every detail feels thoughtful, from the cozy lighting to the inviting table settings.

The food was exceptional — perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Each dish felt authentic and crafted with care, and the quality of ingredients truly stood out. Their wine selection was also perfect — light, refreshing, and thoughtfully paired to complement the dishes beautifully.

The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about making sure every guest enjoys their time. It’s rare to find a place that balances sophistication with such a welcoming vibe, but La Bonne Vache does it effortlessly.

I can’t wait to return — this is easily one of the best dining experiences in D.C.

This was the most incredible burger I’ve ever had: light buns, juicy medium rare beef, many onions, Gruyère fondue and garlic aioli. Heavenly. Everything else was great too: fries and mousse also recommended. Friendly staff and quick service at the busy somewhat small spot. Expect to wait outside a bit but the line moves quickly especially if you have a small group. Not too expensive, great value. Definitely worth it.

La Bonne Vache lived up to the hype! Pro tip: Go for a late lunch to snag a table right away since they are walk-in only.
The Hot Spiced Pear cocktail is the perfect seasonal sip, and the mushroom tartine is a total standout. I ordered the Beef Roti and it was 10/10. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. I’ll definitely be back soon!

lively place and great atmosphere in this very nice bistro the open face lobster on bread was very good. The Steak and Fries was so so too salty too fatty and the fries were not fresh overall though the food was good overall and the crème caramel for dessert was delicious – the wine selection is good. I’m going back but let’s see what happens next time.

The green salad and beet salad were delicious, the fries were perfectly crisped, and the burgers were absolutely to die for. We had the French Onion burger and the Truffle Brie burger. So good! And the staff was amazingly friendly.

I had the pleasure of dining here. It was one of the places that was recommended to me by my son. I was a solo diner on this evening. This was a Friday night so the house was packed.
The gentleman who was directing the traffic in the front of the house went out of his way to make me feel valued and comfortable on such a busy night. I later learned that he is also the owner. After seating me he came over and inquired if I were visiting the area and where I was from. Upon learning that I was from New Orleans he said that a member of his staff has a home there. Shortly afterwards I was approached by that staff member a true delight to speak with. We talked about where her home was located, and the culinary scene in New Orleans how it differs from other places.
My server Liv was equally as polite. She did a great job at keeping an eye on my table and timing her service so that I did not feel rushed in anyway. My interactions here with all of the staff left me feeling that I welcomed and valued as a patron.

Now for the food absolutely nothing bad to report here either. I was torn between to burgers on the menu. I went with the name sake burger LBV Classique Burger and an order of the Pommes Frites.

When the Pommes Frites came to the table I knew I was in trouble. I am a Pommes Frites snob. I like mine to be crispy on the outside and pillowy soft inside. These were prefect. One of my other criteria is how are they seasoned. It is a bad thing if I need to add salt to them. These I am happy to report need nothing added to them. After this perfect start I was hoping that it was not all down hill from here. It wasn’t.

My LBV Classique Burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, cheesy, delight. The red onions and those outstanding pickles just added to the party.

In summary the care that they show you upon entering the restaurant shines on through the rest of the meal. I felt valued at a customer and was served a really great meal.

Yes I would eat here again and again. I am even thinking about going back to try the other burger that I was considering the Boeuf Bourguignonne Burger or maybe something else from their menu.
Update: February 15th 2026

Back in Georgetown and a return trip to Le Bonne Vache. I am happy to report that it is still as good as my first visit. I truly believe that many people would walk past this spot because a peak in the window at the crowed dining room and wonderful chaos that happens here. Simply don’t. Just don’t pass this place up you will be denying yourself of good meal. This place is busy a line out the door and a dining room that uses every inch of space to serve up their magic.

Here is one of the reasons I think why this place does so well on my last visit I was greeted at the door by one of the owners. He works the door and the floor like a machine. That is not to suggest that he his cold or unwelcoming but the opposite. He has control of the front ñ, middle, and back of the house.

He is directing the flow of the room seating diners, turning tables, directing his staff doing his best to ensure that each table has a good experience.

On this visit I decided to get something other than the LBV Burger instead I ordered the BŒUF BOURGUIGNON a burger that also includes red wine braised short rib and crispy bacon. It was a good as it sounds. The burger patty was made, tasty, and cooked perfectly. That thin pink line that ensures you that it is not overcooked. To serve burgers in this manner from a kitchen that is in a rush from open to close shows that they take pride in what they serve.

The Pomme Fritesvhere were excellent once again. Forget the red stuff bring me more of the garlic aoli please. Due to limits I have to cut this review short.

If you’re in the Georgetown area and in the mood for a really good burger and Pommes frites give this place a try. If it’s a busy night like it was when I visited don’t let a wait for a table deter you from a great meal prepared and served by a great staff and owner who take pride in what they serve.
