This was my first time going to La Bistro and it was not the greatest experience for me and my girlfriend. We had a reservation but there was a line still. I won’t hold it against them as it was valentines evening so they were more than likely past their limit. After waiting in line for 20 min, we made it to the front of the line where a server brought out 5 or 6 complimentary glasses for the wait. And while my girlfriend and I were at the front they handed glasses to multiple ppl behind us and when it came down to us they gave us 1 glass for between the 2 of us. Now the serve did offer to get another glass but it seemed odd tha he walked right past us even though we were first in line at the time. Anyways they grab us to our table where we ordered the four course meal. Our server experience was lackluster, to say the least. I would like to give the benefit of the doubt that it was very busy for him but when I heard how much attention the table behind us was getting compared to how we were serviced it seemed a little blatant. This is all coupled by the fact that we appeared to be the only African American couple in the restaurant. So I can’t help but feel a certain type of way when this happens. But as far as the food it was great except for the appetizers. We ordered their meatballs which came out a little cold and it seemed like it may have been out for a minute before served to us. The soup we ordered was the lobster bisque which was creamy and tasty. And for my entree I had their veal which sautéed mushrooms with spaghetti which I thought was excellent. My girlfriend ordered the lobster ravioli which she said she also enjoyed and their New York Cheesecake for dessert was a great finish for the meal. As much as enjoyed most of the food. The experience was very unpleasant and I had to let it be known.

The food is top tier from appetizer to dessert. The atmosphere and service is as good as it gets.
There is also the single greatest whisky selection I have ever seen at a restaurant in DFW.

My husband and I had a wonderful Valentine’s dinner at La Bistro! Don’t be fooled by the modest storefront—it’s a hidden gem. The ambiance inside is relaxed, beautiful, and welcoming. The service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. My husband had the filet on the rocks—an interactive experience where you cook the filet on a sizzling hot stone right at the table, ensuring every bite is perfect. I had the Chilean sea bass with risotto, which was cooked to perfection—flavorful and delicate. Overall, we were beyond impressed. We highly recommend La Bistro—come for the food, stay for the experience!

Avoid this place on Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t matter if you make a reservation, you will be standing in line for 30 minutes to an hour, past your reservation time. Even if you get there early. Service was not great. We could hear our server interact with tables around us, and when he got to us, his tone completely changed; dull, quick, and rushing away. The restaurant was very smoky! My eyes were burning. Never experienced that. Also, a heads up if you come on Valentine’s Day, you have to order the four course menu, $100 per person. There is no other menu to order from and you can’t order individual items unless it’s alcohol. The food was not worth $100 pp. I feel scammed. Side note – this is not a diverse environment…

Came here for the first time. Celebrating a birthday. I will say this was a very nice experience. The atmosphere and service was top notch. Dinner was amazing. Ordered the sirloin on a rock , my goodness. I’ve eaten at numerous steak houses and this was one of my new favorites. I’m looking forward to returning again and hopefully try the steak again and the appetizers.

Edited; not sure if my bad review was hidden intentionally?
First and last time being to La Bistro. Husband booked a reservation nearly 3 weeks in advance just to ensure that we’d be able to enjoy La Bistro this Valentine’s Day, and sadly that was not the case. Our reservation was for 6PM. We arrived about half an hour early and knew that we’d obviously have to wait till our time but around 6:05, people with reservations at 6:30 or who had shown up after we did were being seated first. People were obviously getting annoyed and champagne was offered. I’m pretty sure this place was double, if not triple over booked. Why is this place so disorganized? People with 6:30 reservations should not be seated before 6:00, especially when we were there an hour before them! We finally got seated around 6:40, to which we waited another 5-10 minutes to be check in with and we were finally able to place our orders.
The plates were clean, food came out quick; however we weren’t even through our soup and salad before we were given our main entree. The food was alright, genuinely not worth the amount of time we waited. I also without a doubt cannot say the food was worth the 100 dollars per person. Husband’s steak was overcooked and tough, my short ribs lacked flavor. The mushrooms had to have been from a can too, they did not have the texture fresh mushrooms would. Tiramisu and corn soup were okay though but not worth 100 dollars a person. The appetizer you had to share, leaving us both with one meatball – and the dessert you also had to share but it was on the smaller side – again, no bang for your buck. Additionally, it would have been nice to not have been forced to use the Valentine’s Day menu, especially at such a ridiculous price.
The time it took us to eat was less than the amount of time we had to wait.

Go. Just go. The steak on the rock. PHENOMENAL. The bread pudding. Impeccable. And surprisingly – the date cake is SO good, I don’t like dates and it was so good. Antonio is a great server, the host made us feel like family. What a great environment. Definitely give it a shot. You won’t regret it

What a cool little spot we found! Antonio was funny and attentive. The vibe is NYC 40s and Sinatra. He wasn’t mad I asked to alter the recipes. The crab cake was the best I’ve ever had. The chicken cordon blue is a tomato base FYI, not cream. He surprised us with a date cake that was delicious!! Personal attention and great memories. Such a great experience. We will be back for sure.

Everything I tasted was amazing from the burrata appetizer, to the corn chowder soup, “Texan 75” cocktail, filet on the rock and oasis dessert. Server/bartender was friendly and super helpful. Will be coming back again.
