The food was absolutely phenomenal- I ordered on Sunday for takeout- I ordered the chicken curry and the Sunday breakfast special, which was excellent. They were quite busy when I arrived to pick up my food and it took a little bit longer, but it was well worth the wait. Which stood up to me most with the hospitality, even though it was a carry out order- A handwritten note was left with my food, apologizing for the wait; and they shared an extra little bite of lentils, which were also delicious. To me, this is true hospitality. They also wrote a nice note on the outside the bag saying eat with your hands and to enjoy the food and thanked me for coming. I highly recommend dining at this restaurant which also offers a tasting menu on Friday and Saturday nights. I am now a lifelong customer.
Overall a terrific experience and I’d highly recommend this restaurant offering authentic Bengali food as the only authentic Bengali restaurant in and near Jersey City.
The chef’s creativity really stood out. As someone who’s quite picky and critical with food, I was blown away. It takes a truly talented chef to make you crave another bite even when you’re completely full — and that’s exactly what happened. The food was fresh, lightly marinated, and full of flavor. My husband was transported back to the taste of his mother’s cooking, and I left feeling inspired to try making some of the dishes at home.
This kind of authenticity and warmth is so hard to come by — I’ve already told all my NYC friends about it and will definitely be coming back. A beautiful, delicious, and heartwarming experience all around.
Every dish felt personal, full of depth and care. You could taste the heart and soul in every bite—so much love went into the cooking. The flavors were rich and complex, but still comforting and familiar. It was the perfect introduction to Bangladeshi food.
If you’re looking for something unique, genuine, and truly delicious, this is it. I’ll be thinking about this meal for a long time.
Best Bangladeshi restaurant after coming to USA . (I tried alot of bengali restaurants from Jamaica to JH )
The meal began with daal and various dips with rice, followed by a flavorful pumpkin soup. We then enjoyed a series of dishes including prawns, fried fish, curry chicken, curry beef, goat biryani, and a delightful baked yogurt dessert. Each course was paired with three different types of rice, adding to the complexity and enjoyment of the meal. The menu changes weekly, offering a mix of beloved dinner staples and celebration dishes.
The highlight was definitely the chef’s daughter introducing each dish with enthusiasm and warmth. The chef herself also made a point to visit every table and was incredibly sweet. It’s BYOB, so we brought a dry white wine which paired perfectly with the meal. Everyone also gets a glass of mango lassi, which was so yummy and I would have gotten seconds.
The portion sizes were so generous—we ended up with enough leftovers for two additional meals later that week. If you’re looking for a taste of Bangladeshi cuisine in a charming and intimate setting, Korai Kitchen is a must-visit!
