Such a great experience!

The food was absolutely phenomenal- I ordered on Sunday for takeout- I ordered the chicken curry and the Sunday breakfast special, which was excellent. They were quite busy when I arrived to pick up my food and it took a little bit longer, but it was well worth the wait. Which stood up to me most with the hospitality, even though it was a carry out order- A handwritten note was left with my food, apologizing for the wait; and they shared an extra little bite of lentils, which were also delicious. To me, this is true hospitality. They also wrote a nice note on the outside the bag saying eat with your hands and to enjoy the food and thanked me for coming. I highly recommend dining at this restaurant which also offers a tasting menu on Friday and Saturday nights. I am now a lifelong customer.

The food was exemplary, reminiscent of Bengali and Bangal food back home in Kolkata and Bangladesh. I got the rui mach curry and plain rice and because it was my first time ordering out, they added a Dal as well, which was very flavorful and had a ‘bhindi’ masala aftertaste making it’s flavor very different than home but novel. They also added a very sweet note for people ordering for the first time to make added memories for customers.
Overall a terrific experience and I’d highly recommend this restaurant offering authentic Bengali food as the only authentic Bengali restaurant in and near Jersey City.

We had the 3-hour course meal for dinner and it was truly an unforgettable experience. It was such a pleasure meeting the chef and her daughter, who run the place so smartly and gracefully. I absolutely loved how Bangladeshi cuisine was introduced and presented — it’s incredibly rare to find a restaurant that stays true to authentic Bangladeshi flavors without mixing in Indian dishes just to please the crowd.

The chef’s creativity really stood out. As someone who’s quite picky and critical with food, I was blown away. It takes a truly talented chef to make you crave another bite even when you’re completely full — and that’s exactly what happened. The food was fresh, lightly marinated, and full of flavor. My husband was transported back to the taste of his mother’s cooking, and I left feeling inspired to try making some of the dishes at home.

This kind of authenticity and warmth is so hard to come by — I’ve already told all my NYC friends about it and will definitely be coming back. A beautiful, delicious, and heartwarming experience all around.

Delightful DAWAT experience. Thank you so much. Mrs Korai is a very kind lady and consummate cook. Her daughter is a great host. Every dish had a story. Can’t wait to go back

I absolutely loved this experience! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was something special. The atmosphere was intimate and full of personality—but the real magic? The food.

Every dish felt personal, full of depth and care. You could taste the heart and soul in every bite—so much love went into the cooking. The flavors were rich and complex, but still comforting and familiar. It was the perfect introduction to Bangladeshi food.

If you’re looking for something unique, genuine, and truly delicious, this is it. I’ll be thinking about this meal for a long time.

I loved it! The food tasted just like home cooking, like when you go to your auntie’s dawat. Everything was delicious, and they even gave us free aloo bhorta. Highly recommend!
Best Bangladeshi restaurant after coming to USA . (I tried alot of bengali restaurants from Jamaica to JH )

A truly exceptional dining experience in Jersey City. We went to a recent dawat dinner so we could try different dishes and were completely blown away. The food and service were incredible and Nori did such a wonderful job explaining the context behind the meal. It is a 3 hour meal and you get so much food! All of the flavors were so different from each other and it was fun to mix different things together as the meal progressed. We had several different mashes, dal, fried eggplant, mixed veg, fried river rish, chicken roast, curry beef, shrimp curry, egg curry and biryani. And of course lots of rice!!! The dal was the best I’ve ever had and the chicken roast was to die. Its way too much food to eat in one sitting, so whatever you don’t finish gets packed up to go home with you. The leftovers are somehow even better the next day.

We were lucky to be squeezed in for dinner last night due to a cancellation and had one of the most incredible dining experiences ever! Thank you so much to Nori & Nori and the team for the hospitality and delicious food. It is very clearly that Korai Kitchen is a labor of love, not to mention that the value of the quality and quantity of food was well worth more than the $90 per person in cost. So jazzed to have a new spot for takeout and date nights!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Korai Kitchen for Amma’s Dawat, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. We managed to book a last-minute table for this special eight-course meal, which takes place over three hours. The entire dining room is seated promptly at 8 PM, and every guest enjoys each course simultaneously, making for a wonderfully communal dining experience.

The meal began with daal and various dips with rice, followed by a flavorful pumpkin soup. We then enjoyed a series of dishes including prawns, fried fish, curry chicken, curry beef, goat biryani, and a delightful baked yogurt dessert. Each course was paired with three different types of rice, adding to the complexity and enjoyment of the meal. The menu changes weekly, offering a mix of beloved dinner staples and celebration dishes.

The highlight was definitely the chef’s daughter introducing each dish with enthusiasm and warmth. The chef herself also made a point to visit every table and was incredibly sweet. It’s BYOB, so we brought a dry white wine which paired perfectly with the meal. Everyone also gets a glass of mango lassi, which was so yummy and I would have gotten seconds.

The portion sizes were so generous—we ended up with enough leftovers for two additional meals later that week. If you’re looking for a taste of Bangladeshi cuisine in a charming and intimate setting, Korai Kitchen is a must-visit!
