Kyoku near Southpoint is seriously amazing. I’ve lived in this area for years and have seen this place so many times but never stopped in. I finally decided to try it and I’m honestly mad at myself for waiting so long because the food is that good.
The braised short rib is absolutely to live for. Super tender, packed with flavor, and cooked perfectly. You can tell real care goes into the food here. The prices are also really good for the quality you get, which makes it even better.
Service was completely on point. Staff was friendly, attentive, and checked on me more than most places without being over the top. The location was clean and had a really cool, groovy vibe. It honestly gave me food truck vibes but in the best way possible—casual, fun, and high quality.
The beer was also delicious and they have a really great craft beer selection. If you’re near Southpoint and haven’t tried Kyoku yet, you’re missing out. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend checking this place out.

KoKyu is an absolute gem.

The food here is on another level. The street corn is ridiculous — packed with flavor and easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The tofu wraps are surprisingly bold and satisfying, and the Bahi sandwich is just super good, the kind of thing you think about days later.

But honestly, what pushes this place over the top is the customer service. Everyone here treats you like they’re genuinely happy you came in. Friendly, fast, and on point from start to finish.

Great food, great people, great vibe. Easy five stars.

A solid spot to eat in or take out, and a really good spot if you’re craving Bulgogi style bowls!

Stopped here to grab dinner for my brother and his wife as they welcomed a son at the hospital. We got an assortment of bowls, General Ko’s, spicy beef, spicy pork, and also the chicken nuggets and fries for the kids.

The bowls were each good, though maybe too much vegetables in the spicy beef, and perhaps not enough in the Ko’s. Overall, though the portions are very strong! The chicken nuggets were good, and the fries were actually the home run of the meal, well battered and fried, and a great level of salt!

I also saw it looked like a giant outdoor area, which would be great with kids, especially when the weather is nice.

Well, I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to get it, if I was in the area, it’s a great choice!

This restaurant serves delicious and invovative Mexican ans asian fusion food, including sandwiches, tacos, and nachos. They highlight the sumptuous portions, fresh ingredients, and unique flavor combinations. Both veg and nonveg options. Nice outdoor seating ambience enhances the dining experience.

Atmosphere is amazing. The outdoor seating on a nice day is spectacular. Service was top notch.

I had the baht mi and the fries. Pretty good meal. Fries blew my mind. Sandwich was ok – it felt like a mix of good flavors that were having a hard time coming fully together. A bit too heavy on the beef, and the jalapeños added just a bit too much spice. The peanuts were a nice touch.

Good enough to bring me back.

Excellent food and the milkshake was delicious too!!! Will be going back to try few other dishes here.

Fig milkshake – one of the best milkshakes I’ve had at this city
Shrimp tacos – delicious, filling and healthy
Fries – do not miss this one out. Yummy!!!
Chicken bowl – loved this as well

They clearly informed that everything was customizable and you order from the App.

Lots of veg options.

Excellent service and water got topped every few minutes.

Lot of parking space so no need to worry about that as well.

The food was quite tasty, with lots of inventive options on the menu, and the prices reflected what you might expect for food of this quality in Durham ($15 -20 items). However the ordering was done through a QR code and everything arrived in disposable containers, which creates something of a “to go”/ carry-out experience. We spent almost $70 on two people for shrimp tacos, a tofu bowl, fries, and 2 canned beverages.

Frustrating food ordering. You cannot place your order with a person. We did not want to order on our phones using QR code at the table because the ordering platform wasn’t loading, but the kiosk people can use to order didn’t have nachos listed that my colleague wanted. So we ordered on our phones. Couldn’t close our tab at the end of the meal, so had to get a server to close on a handheld terminal. Then he “couldn’t” print a receipt.

Was a bit frustrating to have to guess what many of their sauces and seasonings were given that there often weren’t descriptions on the ordering platform and you can’t place an order with a person.

Food was unspectacular. Got an apparently premade, soupy milkshake…can’t remember the last time I left a milkshake or any other ice cream unconsumed. Brussels were decent. Wagyu Kim Cheeseburger was disappointing. I love kimchi—and portmanteaus—and gave this place the benefit of the doubt that the toppings would tie together nicely given the 4.8 rating across 1,700+ reviewers, but the toppings didn’t complement the burger or each other to me. Burnt end nachos had a very little bit of not very tasty burnt ends and a whole lot of chips and iceberg lettuce. I’d take Bojangle’s seasoned fries over their Ko’Jangles any day—even if the seasoned fries cost $8 like theirs.

Staff was friendly. Space was loud at 6:30 on a Monday to the point of my colleague and me having lean in and raise our voices to have conversation. Glad this place hits for a lot of people but, wow, was I disappointed to choose such a highly rated spot and have this level of food/service/atmosphere.

The food is delicious but the restaurant appears to have some challenges with service. I appreciate the option to order via their online app and have the food brought to your table but it becomes a bit confusing when determining what to expect from the servers. No one in particular is assigned to your table and everyone seems to be just pitching in to help wherever they feel they are needed. It may be helpful to explain the concept to customers before they come to the restaurant so they know what to expect. The prices certainly do not reflect the hodgepodge experience provided.

This food was so good I want even that hungry coming in and I ate that whole bowl. My drink was tasty and refreshing. Very deserving of the 5 stars. I’m in town for a short time and glad this is the spot I stopped for lunch! Only wish I was here longer to try something else.
