The place is so popular that the customers line up at the door before it opens at 5PM. We arrived early to secure an early table.
We had been to the store a few times before. The environment was clean and cozy, and the staff was attentive.
The tonkatsu was excellent. I used to order Katsu-Nabe, which is such a comfort food in chilly Seattle winter. This time I ordered Katsu curry for a change of taste. It does not disappoint. The batter was crispy, the pork was tender and juicy, and the curry was well balanced. Such a satisfying experience.
When we left the restaurant, there was still a long line at the door waiting for table. If you plan to visit, definitely arrive early.
I arrived around 6:30 PM and the place was busy. Since we were a party of two, we got lucky and only waited about 10 minutes for a table. The staff were lovely and attentive. The space is a bit narrow, but it adds to the atmosphere. It’s worth a try
I had a great experience overall, and it was the perfect comfort meal after a cold day outside. I highly recommend this spot and wish I had a restaurant like this back home. The wait time was also very reasonable—about 10 minutes to get a table.
I got the katsu curry and it went well with the rice and pork. Boatload of cabbage to balance it out.
The price is a little high for what you get. $30 for some miso soup and pork/rice curry is too much.
Also, the wait is long. I was told 15-20 minute wait but waited almost 40-45 minutes. I guess you need reservations here.
I tried two dishes, and both were outstanding.
*Iberico Miso Katsu
I decided to splurge on the higher-end cut, and it was 100% worth it. This dish features premium Iberian pork paired with a Nagoya-style sweet miso sauce. The set comes with finely shredded cabbage salad, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sesame seeds. You grind the sesame seeds yourself and mix them into the sauce, adding a deep, roasted nuttiness. The katsu itself was executed perfectly. Crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy inside, with a slightly sweet and earthy flavor from the pork. Combined with the miso sauce, it was absolute heaven!
*Rosu Katsu Nabe
This was comfort food at its finest. The katsu cutlets are simmered in a savory broth with egg, napa cabbage, mushrooms, and vegetables. The contrast in texture is what makes it special. The bottom of the katsu absorbs the rich broth while the top stays crunchy. Warm, satisfying, and perfect for a cold winter day.
For dessert, the matcha tiramisu is a must-try. Bold, earthy matcha flavor that is not overly sweet and very well balanced.
A few extra notes. Salad dressings are available at the table. The service is friendly and attentive. Parking can be a bit challenging. They only take reservations for parties of 6 or more, and it does get packed during peak hours. They also have another location in Redmond.
Overall, this is hands-down the best katsu specialty restaurant in the state. With so many different cuts and preparation styles, the options feel almost endless. If you love katsu or want to understand why people do, this place is a must-visit!
