This place is used to be great, but now, not so good. The steak was dry, tough, and tasteless. They used to brag about the quality of the steak they used, and it was good 2 or 3 years ago. The rest of the food was bland, since seasoning was lacking during the preparation and cooking. Sauces that used to served are not now presented. They have cut back on the proteins, but offer plenty of rice and noodles (filler).
Also, we received poor service. We had to ask twice for drink refills and everything else we needed, and were never asked about drinks about anything, yet they were quick to mention that “gratuities” were not included on the bills. They returned them to those that didn’t realize it so they could add it. So, that $30+ meal (for one) was worse than many I have had for less than $10.

I have always been a fan of Kobe until tonight. I have 4 members in my family and we ALWAYS celebrate birthdays at Kobe. We went there tonight for my daughters birthday and the whole experience was horrible. Our cook WAY oversalted our food. We could hardly eat it. No one came to take our plates away, even after I requested that they sing Happy Birthday. They brought out the dessert, after I had cleaned all the plates out of the way, and three girls sang. No drums, no nothing. Very dull. So disappointed and so was my birthday girl. It was very “off ” night for Kobe.

I have been eating at Kobe on and off for 15 years now, and I will say it is not nearly as good as it used to be. Especially the sushi. Their sushi used to be the best in town, but the past few times I have eaten there it has not been very fresh. I would say over the past five years now their food quality has lessened significantly.

Food was fantastic. Experience was really neat and the atmosphere is just a fun place especially when you have a group as large as ours. Make sure when you eat here to ask for plenty of yum yum sauce… Probably the best part of your meal!

According to the sign on the door, CLOSING AUGUST 14TH, 2016 AND RE-OPENING IN NOVEMBER IN A NEW LOCATION!!!

Review: Consistent. Same menu choices, same jokes, same show from the grill chefs, etc., but decent value and decent flavor.

This people are RUDE, take so long for a plate. When trying to record the grill theirs a cook their that is rude not being able to record and he gets and attitude like a little girl. The the other side “no grill in front of you” they JUST LOVE TO TAKE 1 hour for 1 PLATE. They lost my business this people are lazy and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
I’m from Houston, TX and this restaurant is just AWFUL.

***Avoid at all cost**. Food was sub-par. Terrible service. Money stolen by server(waitress).

Went here a few years back and every time I drive by the building I want to curse. Waited for over an hour in a half for the chef to show up (me and my date were the only customers left). The order was rushed and even the rice was not fully cooked. Regardless, I handed a FIFTY DOLLAR BILL ($50.00) to our server and asked for change so that I could leave a tip. 30 minutes past and no sign of the server or my money. So we get up to leave and I ask a gentleman who was mopping where my server was and my change. He simply told me “everyone has left.” Arguing with this man was pointless seeing how he was only there to clean. 20-30 minutes pass. Walked around. Nothing. No one ever showed, lights were being turned off, so, we left.

I understood that we came in a bit late, but I would rather have been turned away than be given bad service and have my money stolen. I called that night and the next day and no one ever picked up or returned my calls. Worse restaurant experience ever. Please close down and bring back Shoguns.

Excellent food, laid back atmosphere. Leo and Frank (sushi chefs) are the best in Birmingham. Good guys and great food!
