My wife and I decided to get away from San Antonio to spend someplace quiet and relax poolside for a weekend. Having Knotty Deck and Bar at the Renaissance Hotel was convenient and great. Food was very good and a good sized menu. Our first meal took a while and the fries were cold. Asked for new fries and by the time we got them we were almost done with the meal. All other meals and services were great.

Amazing service and even better food! It’s extremely convenient to eat here when staying at the hotel. There is plenty of seating, as well as bar seating, and an entire outdoor deck that has great views. Everything about this place was 5 stars. I would definitely come here again even if not staying at the hotel.

I had read so many great things about the food and the service here, and since I am going to be moving on the side of town for both work and personal, I thought why not check it out.

After being at the hospital all day we were too tired to go out to eat and just had the energy to go back to the hotel and eat there. We were so glad we did. Drew was the absolute best!!! Knowledgeable, friendly and so much fun. He totally turned our day around and was honestly one of the best servers I’ve had in a while. The food was really good as well!

Came around afternoon to try something different. I got the knotty fries which were very flavorful, the way I like! I didn’t know what exact drink I wanted , the bartender asked my flavor profile and came back with a delicious blueberry mint martini

I’m a big fan of their Mac-n-Cheese, the smoked bacon worked so well. Their Chicken Sandwich was also flavorful, the chicken was well seasoned and juicy. Sitting at the bar guarantees that you will be served, while self sit-in takes a lot longer to be attended. Overall, the food and drinks were great and the bartenders were hospitable.

Not sure if this restaurant is understaffed or the waitress was new, but the service was HORRIBLE. My hubby and I ate here twice this weekend as this restaurant was located in the same hotel where we stayed for a marriage retreat. Both times it took forever to get our meals. However, the second visit was the worst. Our waitress “Ruth” lacked situational awareness and did not even realize we had not gotten our meal (a burger and fish Tacos) until after 45 minutes of us patiently waiting. Six tables got their meals before us and they were seated way after we were. We honestly think she forgot to put our order in, but instead of admitting the mistake, she blamed it on the kitchen. It took us talking to the manager to finally get our food. He was kind enough to not charge us for our meal which was very thoughtful of him, but the principle of us having to rush to eat our meal to make it back to the retreat was still an inconvenience. We hope this waitress is retrained so nobody has to experience such a frustrating experience.

I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin with my parents for the weekend, a beautiful hotel. We were looking forward to the members club but were told it was closed for the weekend, and we were offered a breakfast voucher at Knotty Deck & Bar. This morning, we decided to take our opportunity to grab a bite, reaching around 10:15 am. It’s a seat yourself restaurant, so we decided on the high tops close to the bar. We ended up waiting around 10-15 minutes with no greeting, and all staff walking by us to serve others. I finally got up to ask if we were in the right place to be served to which then we got, “Do you guys want coffee?” We politely agreed, we didn’t make a fuss about the wait, and just continued sitting and talking. Another 15-20 minutes passes when we ask the same woman whether someone would be taking our orders as we see this server going to take orders of the people who arrived after us. My mom went to speak with someone to see if there was an issue. The woman whom I had asked about being served began to bring the server, Dylan, over to us to finally take our order after almost 40 minutes of sitting there with minimal service or acknowledgement of us there. He begins to make his way over making full eye contact, only to do a 180° and go help the white couple that has been sitting for no less than 5 minutes. I bring up white couple as we were the only Indian family sitting there, and were being actively ignored as Dylan continued to run around helping everyone else as well as people who arrived much later than us, all white guests. My mom talked to the manager who went to talk to him about his lack of service, to which he finally came over and made the excuse that the pillar we were sat next to was probably the reason he hasn’t seen us (he made eye contact with me multiple times). He complained he was the only server and has been doing this all alone with everyone flagging him down. While I understand how stressful being a server may be as I’ve worked in a restaurant myself, it shows the lack of strong management and training at this establishment. The clear racism we felt was awful because we not once were rude or making it a big deal that we were waiting, but a quick greeting explaining that he is extremely busy and just needed a moment to get to us would have made a world of difference for our experience. Although a great hotel, we definitely won’t be back to eat here.
