I ordered their puffy poke bowl and one of the appetizers—I think it was called the Heart Attack or Heart Stopper—and both were shockingly good. The quality of the fish and ingredients was outstanding, especially for the price. I honestly don’t know how they’re able to serve such high-quality, fresh poke for less than what national chain restaurants charge for smaller portions and inferior ingredients.
The service was friendly, the restaurant was very clean and well-kept, and my food arrived in a respectable amount of time—no long wait at all. Everything about the experience made me want to come back.
If this spot was on the other side of town, I’d be there once a week, no question. I really hope more people discover this place because we need more locally owned restaurants like this in town—places that serve great food, take pride in their service, and treat customers right.
Probably not a valid critique but wish they had beer on tap options.
Highly recommend to anyone craving fresh, flavorful, and affordable poke bowls or Asian-style appetizers in town!
Next was Sushi Rolls. I got the Lobster Monster. My husband chose 2 raw rolls, the Red Dragon and Superstar. Finally 2 veggie rolls to share, the Hot Lady and Veggie Dream. The rolls were all good. We’ve had better, we’ve had way worse. None really got us excited.
Onto the entrees. Here is where this place absolutely Excelled! He got the Pork Katsu Curry. Loved the Katsu, LOVED the Curry, said it was some of the best he’s had. Total winner for sure! I was stoked about the Build Your Own Poke Bowl! They have a few standard options or for a couple bucks more you can just pick what you want. The tofu was great, Mango sauce fantastic, veggies were yummy. I’d order that again in a heartbeat!
Lastly I went with a drink special, the Dragon Bite. She said many people think it’s too strong but I thought the citrus and berry components blended well. Our server Erika was great, everyone there seemed very attentive. This place has definitely earned a spot in our regular rotation!
We ordered a couple of lunch specials. I got a hot mess and sake nigiri and my wife got a couple cooked rolls and I forget which. You get miso soup and a salad with the lunch specials.
Oh yeah, we got some gyoza too and they were really good!
The sushi itself was really good. My wife and I don’t really like miso soup, but I thought I would give it a try here too. I did not like it but it was the best I have had if that makes sense. So that is nothing on them.
The salad looked like it was premade and sitting in a refrigerator for a while. Some of the dressing was coagulated on top of the dressing and super watery at the bottom of the bowl. Not great, but could have been better.
My main gripe and the reason the rating is 2 stars is the place seemed pretty dirty. Dust in lots of corners. Low lighting on railings that looked pretty dirty… it just made me worry about the cleanliness of any kitchen/prep areas with the lack of attention to cleaning in the dining area. I liked the food a lot and would like to go back, but we probably won’t due to this.
