After trying some places on Dauphin Island we decided to try our luck at a place in Gulf Shores when we visited Fort Morgan.

We have been coming to Gulf Shores for 23 years (give or take a year or 2 here and there) and we have never eaten at King Neptune’s until last night. Let me tell you this place is a gem! We are going back tonight and will always make a point to eat here again when in Gulf Shores.

Skip the 2 hour wait everywhere else and go here! Great menu, reasonable prices, friendly service. The shrimp and grits and gator bites appetizer (blackened) were our fave dishes of those we ordered.

Cam in around 3 for a late lunch. No wait. Food and service was good. We got a cup of gumbo, the ribeye special, butterfly and coconut shrimp baskets and the steamed seafood sampler. I would definitely recommend the sampler.

This is not the first visit we’ve had to King Neptunes, but I have to say it’s the worst.

My family and I were cruising around looking for a spot to eat dinner. We noticed King Neptune’s after passing by and decided to go back and give them a try. We were all very pleased with this decision. We started out with hush puppies which were good. The entrees is where they really shined and surprised us. I went with the shrimp and fish platter, the wife with grilled grouper, daughter with alfredo, and son with catfish. The food was well cooked, but the seasoning is what made it excellent. This was one of our best meals while in the area and definitely warrants a return visit.

Terrible way to run a business. We ate here with our 5 young kids. After we ordered, we heard the table next to us ordering food we didn’t see on the menu. When they were finished, we turned and asked them. They said it was a lunch menu. When we mentioned this to server, they said we have to request it. Our food had already started. So we paid for more expensive kids meals with barely any food, no drink, etc. our bill went from probably $60 to $120. Then after a week of eating out with two adults, five kids (2 of which don’t even eat) we were charged as a party of 6 or more. They only place we have every been charged that for. It means nothing to them, losing us as customers in future. We don’t drink and party it up. We are trying to enjoy a trip with 5 young kids and still give them experiences. Regardless, you should do what is right and treat people the right way. Terrible moral compass at this place. Give your business elsewhere!!!

The food here is fantastic, and the service was wonderful. We did a carry-out order for a big group (11 people) and they had it prepared quickly and even took the trouble to organize all the boxes so everything was easy to divide later. All the staff were super friendly as well. We’ll definitely be coming back here!

So we were so excited to eat here had ate here few years ago and was looking very forward to it. Food was good except for couple things. But the reason I’m leaving this review is the service and management. They add gratuity 18% for 6 or more. There was a total of 10 of us but we didn’t get to sit next to each other and we were on 3 different tickets so we asked waitress would there be a gratuity she said no since we weren’t sitting with each other and we were on different tickets. ( I don’t like places that have gratuity I like to leave my own tip on job well done) but still we were having pretty good time even tho we had to wait almost 3 hours start to finish. Then we asked for boxes etc and she went on break. Then we get our check gratuity was added. So then a different waiter that we hadn’t even had comes to pick up check and we nicely explained that our waitress said we wouldn’t be charged gratuity and he says he is her husband and had been conversating with her and knew the situation. ????? What. He says she couldn’t have done that. So we ask to speak to manager he comes back and says the manager sent him out there. So I asked a bus boy to get the manager, she then comes out we explain to her and told her and said if she would have only came out at anytime while we were there and explained that she couldn’t waive it that would have been fine and we would have understood but hiding and sending some one out that claims to be her husband to bully us was not the way to handle it. Then our aunt tells the manager that this wasn’t our first time there did she not care if we came back because we didn’t like being lied to and manager shakes her head no. So buyer beware. But the bus boys were a 5 star all the way and entertaining. So they got right at $60 in tip off us together so some lessons are hard but it will be the last dollar they get from us.

The rating of this place had initially removed it from my restaurants to try. After running into 1+ hour waits for tables at surrounding seafood joints, desperation and starvation drove me here. It looks like an old gas station turned into a restaurant- on a budget, not a place I’d generally pick for a dinner. We sat out side at red picnic tables, it didn’t feel classy BUT the food and the servers made up for the ambiance. It was lively and fun. The servers were attentive and happy- seemingly difficult to find even in the fine dining locations. The char-grilled oysters were good, the fish tacos were great, they had king crab legs which are hard to find at most places lately. I did not find them over seasoned- I read others complaining about that. My only gripe.. I hope the owner reads these reviews, you need drawn butter with crab legs NOT margarine- fix it, I’d knock a star for that but I feel like your rating doesn’t do this place justice should be 4.5 🙂
