King Coil Spirits opened in late 2023 and has already garnered accolades for their craft spirits and specialty cocktails. In 2024 alone they won more than a dozen medals at International Spirits Competitions, including Best In Class Liqueur at the 2024 American Distilling Institute International Spirits Competition & named MN Gin Producer of the year at the 2024 New York International Spirits Competition. King Coil Spirits is located in the Vandalia Tower, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The distillery has been named for its location, which was once known as the King Koil Mattress factory. An anchor in the city’s Creative Enterprise Zone, King Coil Spirits and OG ZaZa hope to further revitalize the Midway Neighborhood.

Our bartender/server, Rojo, was great! His food and drink recommendations were spot on. We had a Caesar salad (homemade dressing is key!), margherita pizza, and the Pear Noel cocktail (made non-al for my sister) and The Blitzened cocktail for me was delicious!!

King Coil is an awesome spot to grab a drink! The house cocktail I tried called “By Cover of Night” was tasty, very smokey and interesting flavor-wise. Plus I also really enjoyed the “Hibiscus Chamomile Fizz” mocktail I tried later on. I thought it was neat that they make their bitters and liqueurs in house too, and they had some super interesting spirits on the menu. The space is very cool and comfortable to be in, and my party didn’t have trouble finding a seat on a Wednesday evening. The bartender was also very nice and happy to answer questions. I’ll definitely be back to try some of their other cocktails, and their pizza!

Great for a pre-date night cocktail. All the drinks were inventive, tasty and well balanced. Really impressed with their fat washing of their different in-house spirits. The staff was all very knowledgable and super friendly. We will definitely be coming back! The current Christmas pop-up was done well. Great non-traditional Christmas music and very festive decorating.

Fun ambiance and Instagram-worthy cocktails can’t make up for chronic understaffing and steep prices. I’ve been to King Coil a couple of times – once for a friend’s birthday and then a gathering with folks after a community theatre production. Both times, I enjoyed the charming atmosphere and ample parking but noticed that there was usually only one poor soul behind the bar who was struggling to keep up with not only walk ups and those ordering from the bar, but also the dozen or so tables. Having pizza available is a plus, but like the cocktails the prices are quite steep.

Had a great time at King Coil Spirits. I tried several cocktails and amaro and finally the Apple Brandy. All were exceptional along with the service from Aleyeh and Rojo. Highly recommend!

Came for the pizza and stayed for the amazing cocktails. Didn’t realize they have an on-site distillery. Thanks to our mixologist Rojo for making it a great night out. My only critique is considering the high-end cocktail lounge drink options, the lighting could be a bit dimmer after hours to complete the vibe.
