Overrated and Underwhelming

I had high expectations for Kinfelts Kitchen & Wine, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype. The truffle pasta looked appealing, but the white truffle was clearly not fresh — it lacked both aroma and flavor, which was incredibly disappointing.

Both the salmon and cod dishes were bland, with soggy skin that missed the mark on texture and taste. While the food was passable, it was far from memorable, and certainly not worth the premium pricing.

Overall, the restaurant feels overrated and overpriced for the quality it delivers. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a truly refined dining experience in Hamburg.

Great cozy little restaurant. The service is extremely attentive and friendly. They also like to give competent advice especially with the very extensive wine list. The dishes offered are seasonally oriented and therefore also change frequently. They are prepared with the best ingredients, skill and attention to detail. In addition, a pleasant atmosphere and beautiful view awaits you. Always worth a visit, whether for a small bite with a nice glass of wine or an extensive dinner.

Maybe I expected too much from this restaurant as the reviews were good.
I was in Hamburg for 3 days sightseeing and wanted to eat good food in a nice restaurant.

It looked very beautiful, but the seasoning destroyed the goodness of the ingredients. I’m not used to eating salty food, so it was too salty. But for locals, it may be normal. Couldn’t continue so left the food and asked for the bill. They offered a coffee, but I didn’t want to continue for my stomach.

Also some waitresses were not professional. Example: Spitting up to the sink what she drank in front of a guest. I am not sure it was alcohol or other… but it should not be in a disgusting way…. I lost appetite.

For visiting this restaurant, to be referred how they replied. Also the low rated reviews to be considered.

Well it wasn’t a bad dinner. The staff was great and I liked the atmosphere. The food, on the other hand, wasn’t quite there. I had the 5-course menu, and expected a French cuisine. The duck with the red cabbage wasn’t bad, but that’s rather German, isn’t it? Then the consommé had some Asian twist. The bread wasn’t amazing and the truffle butter wasn’t the right temperature. It was straight from the fridge when served. The scallop was oversalted. And I liked the ice cream the least of all. It was too many tastes: marzipan, chocolate, berries, almonds… It ended up being a cacophony of competing tastes. Again, it wasn’t a bad dinner, it’s just these details which kinda spoil the experience. If the price tag was 30% cheaper, it’d be a 4 star for me, but for this price the food should be better IMO. Thanks to the friendly staff though 🙂 the wines were also amazing.

Very nice restaurant, super good cuisine in a nice location; waiters are kind and always attentive.
Only negative note on the billing of beverages, which was not totally transparent: tap water is refilled without asking, and charged 4€ per bottle, not disclosed anywhere before the bill.
Drinks are “offered” (as said by the waiters) between courses, but then billed (8€ per glass in our case).

Came in for a late dinner, not many dinners but it was again quite late. Staff were great and friendly. I had the sardines w chillies and my first schnitzel in Germany. It was a lovely meal and can see the place being very busy before anything at the Philharmonic…

I had such a great evening as always. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great selection of wine to pair with the food. The truffle pasta is delicious and the quail was excellent. We also had the caviar with vodka

We were looking for a good restaurant for a special evening and it was perfect. The dishes are well prepared and the wine pairing was awesome. Surprise of the day, Madeira wine served with a soy sauce sopu. Great dish. Great experience!

What a delightful and exquisite dining experience.
The location only adds to the ambience within the restaurant which is homely in a classy manner.
For starters we had the yellowfin tuna and it was a perfect combination of freshness and texture. For mains we ordered the pork belly and the char which were both cooked to perfection, juicy and with complimentary sides of veggies.
The rhubarb tart dessert was out of this world with a gingery taste wonderfully accompanied by the sweet sauce and the sorbet.
The glasses of champagne and wine we had were both outstanding.

The staff were considerate, friendly, funny, knowledgeable and respectful.
We’ll be back every time we’re in Hamburg.

Kinfelts Kitchen & Wine is a fantastic restaurant in the heart of Hamburg-Hafencity that offers a beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and wine, and of course very friendly staff. The moment you step inside the restaurant, you will be impressed by the sophisticated décor and elegant ambience. It’s only 2 minutes from the Elbphilharmonie. I can highly recommend it.
