The service was poor from the beginning. When I walked in, I told the hostess “Table for one.” She said “sit anywhere.” I chose a 2 person table (smallest they have) and she just tossed the menu on the table and asked what I wanted. I ordered a water and sat down. When my water arrived I was ready to order, I ordered the Sesame chicken with fried rice. My waiter brought my food out in 20 minutes (not bad wait) but I was also the 3rd party in and everyone had already received their orders. The sesame chicken portion was large. They were skimpy on the rice. This was the worse sesame chicken I’ve had in San Antonio. My waiter checked on me once while eating and never checked on me again, which was fine until I got full and needed a to-go box. The waiter entered the dining area once he saw people enter the restaurant. As he walked pass me I asked for a box to which he said, “please hold.” I held for 20 minutes. I had to get back to work and couldn’t wait any longer. Admitted, I was likely not going to eat it in the future. I got up from my table and cashed out with the hostess that sat me. I didn’t leave any tip as none was earned. I will never go back to this restaurant.

One of my favorite things in life is nostalgia, specifically nostalgic smells, and I’ve been coming to Kim Tran for 10 to 15 years and it still hits me right every time when I walk in the door of Kim Tran. That nostalgic ‘I’m-about-to-eat-really-good-food’ smell.

The staff is awesome, friendly, and always has been.

It’s a perfect spot for small parties, retirement parties, or just a nice quaint date with someone else or just yourself.

Thank you Dad for showing me this place cuz the lemongrass chicken w/ sticky white rice and egg drop soup is my go-to every single time, and it’s just my favorite meal almost ever.

Recently got a good friend falling in love with this place too. I think he got the shrimp… I don’t know ( ), the shrimp-something, but he was very happy with what he ordered as well.

I love you Kim Tran (and employees).
Thanks for making bomb meals every time I’ve ever visited.

Ps. I’m about to go home and finish off the leftovers.

I don’t like giving bad reviews, but sometimes you don’t have a choice. The lemongrass chicken was bone dry the sweet and sour pork was mostly dry and flavorless. The only way I can describe the service is indifferent. Trust me the pictures look much better than they taste.

The worst food ever. My plate was served to me twice with Cold Chicken and room temp vegetables. My husband also did not like his plate that was ordered. I asked if at least my food plate would be refunded. The refund was not honored. 1st and last time we ever spend $63.00. I personally will not recommend to anyone. My son seem to not want to comment on his food. Worst experience ever.

Spent 100$ for 5 + appetizer and was given an add-on of about 4$, and that wasn’t the big deal. What bothered me was the appetizer.
They offer on the menu 12 spring rolls for $9.95.. what they don’t explain to you is that it’s not 12 spring rolls.. it’s their version of 2 big spring rolls that they chop up into 12 sushi size pieces.
Food was mediocre at best. Just order a plate that comes with the spring roll.
Will not be going back..

Stopped by for a quick dinner before going to the Botanical Gardens in the area. It was during the week, so it was not crowded at all. The inside was decorated nicely and there were about 25 tables to choose from. Server immediately came to take the drink and appetizer orders. They have both Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, but I stuck to the Vietnamese menu.

For appetizers, had the Vietnamese spring rolls which was very good. They were extremely crispy and fresh. They were served with the traditional cilantro and lettuce to wrap each piece and dip into the nuoc cham (fish sauce vinaigrette). This was my favorite of the night. For the meals, ordered the House Special Spicy Chicken and the Crab Soup. Both were delicious and equally as good. The Spicy Chicken was spicy, but not overwhelmingly spicy. The Crab soup had a large amount of crab and asparagus in the flavorful broth. Will come back to try some of the other menu items.

I usally get the sweet n sour chicken but wanted to try the beef n brocolli. I ask the waiter ifbit has water chestnut because i dont like it stir fried in my food. AND he described the beef n brocolli as tender beef in a savory sweet gravy with fresh carrots and brocolli and he sold me but the actual plate amazing. Lunch specials 12 bucks with a soup and egg roll. Also both delicious.
This is how waiters are suppose describe a plate . Awesome job!

The tasted old and like uncle Ben’s rice and it tasted like it been kept in a cupboard. Jasmin rice will be much better. The pho had no taste and I wouldn’t recommend it.
