Small local diner with inexpensive food. The service is fairly friendly, but the atmosphere is old and dated and the furniture is worn. The food is edible… Nothing spectacular but not bad either. They said they had great home made pie but they were sold out. There aren’t too many food options in the area so you can’t be too picky

The portions are wayyyy too small for the price. COMPLETELY OVERPRICED AND GENERIC. The pancakes taste frozen. I wish Caroline’s was still here unfortunately this is about all that’s left around here as far as breakfast. I will make the drive to first watch next time and get way more food for the same price and way better quality as well.

Home style cooking for breakfast and lunch. Located in the popular dinning zone of downtown Midlothian.
Friendly and attentive service during the busy lunch period.
Chicken fried steak was tender with plenty of cream gravy. Not salty enough for my taste, easily remedied. Crispy fried okra and green beans rounded out the meal.
Daughter had the French dip sandwich with fries. Onions on sandwich push this tender beefy choice to up a notch in flavor. Fries where crispy.
Flavors tended to be on the blander side, possibly catering to a low salt diet. Just added a little to our meal to suit our taste.
Look forward to coming back to try some of the soups, salads and other offerings.

We’ve been wanting to try this place for a while but we always seem to miss them, as they close at 2, but Friday we made it.
Upon entry, we were greeted by busy but friendly staff. The service was attentive but took a little longer as you would expect at lunch.
Mom had the beef stew special with cornbread. The stew was full of tender beef and vegetables. The soup was thinner than we’re use to but very flavourful. She enjoyed it very much.
Diane had the grilled chicken with mac & cheese and green beans. When they placed the plate on the table, you could smell that grill on the chicken and it looked perfect. It was as good as it looked, tender and jucy, with a fantastic taste. Homemade the mac & cheese was thick and the flavor was just right. Even the green beans were season nicely.
I had the cheese burger and fries. Pretty simple meal done real well. Good size patty and a toasted bun and the french fries were crispy and fresh. All the elements came together to make it enjoyable.
Everything here is scratch made and it showed. Co-owner Kim said she and her sister Jenny have been doing it for over 30 years and their experience and care to do it right made this a restaurant we look forward to returning to again and again.
Three thumbs-up

While the food was very good, I only gave 3 stars because I ordered the number 1 special, but they were out of biscuits. So I get toast and gravy instead of biscuits and gravy. Seems odd to me that you run out of biscuits when it is your number 1 special. Also, they burnt my bacon. I asked for crispy bacon, and I guess the only way the cook knows how to make crispy bacon is to burn it. with tip, this meal was $14.

Again, the food was VERY good.

Came here for breakfast and we waited for 50 minutes after we placed the order to get our food. (They were busy, but 50 minutes is ridiculous) the staff was for the most part great. Food is ok but not worth the wait. Also we have a one year old and had to change his diaper in the bathroom floor because they do not have a changing station. We will go to Caroline’s from now on.

How embarrassing it must be to be the manager/owner (Kim) and have your servers telling somebody that they know what you’re doing (the manager) is absolutely less than professional and that they’re sorry for the way you run your store. Honestly cannot wait for a new management or new ownership to take over.. ended up leaving by my choice and went straight to ales and enjoyed a wonderful meal and fast service even with a packed restaurant. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE GERIATRIC. Kim is not a woman’s woman and will shame your body and clothes. Do not waste your money. The waitress was super nice and apologized for the behavior of the “manager” or owner pretty sure it was Kim. Super sad to think I could come here as a kid but not an adult… can’t wait so sorry for wearing a crop top/sports attire to your establishment.

I’ll never go back. In my 69 years of living in the southern states I’ve never been served chicken fried pork chops (the menu did not specify style of prep). After scraping off the covering the meat was still pretty awful. Corn was horrible not fit for a horse. I asked for Texas Toast and was given a cornbread muffin. To start I asked for warm water, the waitress brought a teacup of hot water and a spoon, I was speaking English. I’ve had trouble at Mexican restaurants but this is America sheesh! Warm is between cold and hot “ is it not”??? Most people don’t realize that drinking cold drinks with a meal interferes with digestion.
