I recently visited KFC close to their closing time, and while I completely understand the pressure of wrapping up the day, I was honestly very disappointed with the quality of the food I received.
Though I saw them assembling my meal, it was clear the ingredients—from the bun to the chicken—had been prepared much earlier. The chicken wasn’t hot or freshly crispy as I’ve seen in so many other reviews. Instead, it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Even though it looked crispy on the outside, it wasn’t. The texture was soft and lacked the freshness I usually associate with KFC.
What really bothered me was that, even if it’s the end of the day, customers still deserve the same quality as anyone else. I paid full price, not a discount, so I expected fresh, properly prepared food—not leftovers.
I’ve had great experiences with KFC before, but this visit left me very disappointed. I hope the team takes this feedback seriously—closing time shouldn’t mean cutting corners on quality.

I ordered food for dinner, couple items were missing, I called and spoke to the manger (Chris). He remembered my order and said I could come back anytime to get the missing items. When I returned he wasn’t there, but Gigi and staff listened to my explanation of what happened, I was asked to wait a few minutes and they would prepare my food. Long story short, service was excellent and the Essex store did right by me, it was a week between visits.

Went to KFC in Essex VT ordered our food, was told we had a 15 minute wait for Extra crispy, after 6 minutes waiting then send a young kid outside to tell us they only have original, but have a few pieces of crispy in dark meat so we say that’s fine, after another 10 minutes they send him back outside to tell us that they only have dark meat! Talk about no communication what so ever… had we known this from the beginning we would have left and not ordered and wanted 15 minutes of our time! When we told the young man we want a refund his exact words were “ya that’s probably a good idea” plus we never got the change back, it’s a no wonder this place got shut down before

Mashed potato bites were kind of hard and dry. Not sure if it was me, or how it was supposed to be. Tenders were nice, however I like crispy, and these were not crispy.

Really would be nice to order food for pick up and have it ready when I get there. Would be really nice if the employees weren’t swearing and complaining about wanting to go home while I’m waiting for the food that should have been ready when I got there. I shouldn’t have to sit in your lobby for 20 minutes waiting for chicken to cook. This is just bad service. Do better.

Went to the kfc in Essex Jct.. Went through the drive through. Bucket of chicken with two large sides. The chicken looks absolutely disgusting. Would you eat it?? Dry and just not healthy looking. I didn’t eat it. My other order was nuggets and potatoes. With this order I had asked for the potato wedges. When I received the entire order. The only thing wrong about the second order I had to walk in and return my wedges because they were hard as a break. They said it would take 15 minutes. I already had my order. Who wants to wait 15 minutes on potato wedges?? So I called and spoke to the manager Kaylee. I explained myself. It’s like she didn’t care. I told her I wanted something done. A refund or whatever. I told her the chicken looked nasty. She kept telling me to call the corporation. So I called and reported the whole situation. I’m still waiting to hear back. I think kfc sucks. Especially spending $39.00. And basically through it out. VT Unexceptable, customer service very poor. Another lady was there too she wasn’t to happy she had to wait for her potato wedges either. Being a fast food place you should always have back to food. I don’t eat McDonald’s or burger King, but at least I can say they have back up.

I placed my order around 4:10 p.m. and was made to wait for over half an hour. The service was terrible. I don’t know if the woman who served me was just joking because she was laughing at me or what happened. She was wearing a Migrant Justice jacket; I don’t know if that’s why she made me wait so long or if something offended her. I just wanted my order, but it never arrived, so I left without it. I don’t know how much longer they would have made me wait. According to her, the chicken was still cooking, but what bothered me most was that other people arrived and were served quickly. I don’t know what her problem is, and from what I saw, health inspectors should come more often because they’re on their phones while serving the chicken. I will never buy from this restaurant again. Terrible service.

Oh my word man, for a three star rating, the service I received was better than anything like McDonald’s, Dunkin’s, etc. Absolutely going to give them a five-star review. Just for ordering a large mac and cheese, the employees, shout out to Oscar if he sees this, did the best they could to help me with the order. If any of you come here, it’s definitely worth it. Thanks Oscar for making my day, and take care!

Despite the store appearing quite understaffed on Labor Day 2025, the workers remained incredibly attentive, professional, and efficient.
Everything tasted great and fresh in our order. Compared to many other KFC locations Ive visited, there was nothing missing and not a single mistake in our rather large order. This was no easy feat considering how busy the store was.
Kudos to the employess working at this location on Labor Day 2025!

Took my order had to wait a half hour to get my food didn’t have any dark meat. Chicken had to wait for him to cook it. you can’t call fast food restaurants anymore it’s more like let’s take your money. Have you sit a half hour and wait for your food? Restaurants have gone to hell that’s all I know but it’s probably due to the lack of help. that’s all right they all wondering 40years when they go to retire why they have nothing.
