2017.12 Nice and quiet… taste good….presentation not bad already but can do better so I can give a five star.. fish are typical one….. not crazy expensive…. big enough portion. japense sushi chef, nice service, they only open lunch and dinner, close in the afternoon. make sure you chk the time before going

Authentic Japanese food and great sushi/sashimi. Interior needs updating but it has a nice homey feel to it. Always great service and friendly owner that makes you feel like family. Normally packed on the weekends for a reason.

Love this place! I’ve been to lots of sushi restaurants in NYC and Jersey and Kaname has the best value of all them. The pieces of fish for the sushi are huge and fresh! The shrimp shumai is delicious. The tempura udon is great. My family loves coming here…highly recommend it!

My girlfriend and I tried the restaurant tonight and enjoyed ourselves.
We had sushi and sashimi and found the fish very fresh. We also ordered miso and a seaweed salad. I typically do not care for miso but this one was the best I ever had. The rice was perfectly cooked.
The service was great – everyone was very friendly and attentive.
The decor is simple and could use a refresh but I didn’t go for the decor.
We would go again especially as we liked the fact that it is run by a Japanese family.

It’s is the best Japanese restaurant I have been in. There is warm atmosphere and amazing food. As it was said below it is real Japanese restaurant with it down history and signature dishes. The owner of this place from Japan and he is always happy to recommend the best food based on what you like.

Good service, great food, full bar, saki and the owner (who’s there every day) was in a popular movie with John Travolta and Robin Williams! Sushi/Sashimi orders are one (huge) piece per order, Tuesday and Friday are the freshest days. Sunday and Thursday ‘old’ fish is still better than a good day at any other local place, and most in NYC. Enjoy!

Delicious food , the atmosphere inside is good and you feel like you are home. The woner George , is fantastic guy . He’s chief of the kitchen & he like to talk with the customer’s how is prepare the dish ect. There is choice of different drinks. I like to sit by the bar.

Authentic Japanese food served by super friendly staff. Sushi chef and owner are Japanese. The food was really good and not too pricey. We got the chicken katsu and kaname special dinner.

As much as i dont like to give bad reviews i have to save gard others. I ordered $75 worth of sushi to go and got bitter spoiled ikura sushi and old sour shrimp. The sushi i normally order is simple/standard, so i know when the sushi rolls are done wrong. Philadelphia roll are made with original cream cheese. My order came with sour taste cresm cheese with what i hope were scallions. Restaurants can have an off day. This was 10 points below off day.
