Came here and we ordered the chawanmushi, tempura shrimp, the warm duck breast soba, and the beef sukiyaki dipping soba.

On taste alone this restaurant is pretty good – the tempura shrimp was large and the coating wasn’t too thick. The sukiyaki beef soba was very flavorful – I would say the soup is on the salty side, but overall good. The duck warm soba was also good – especially the duck tsukune was very good. The duck meat wasn’t gamey at all.
Also, they serve you a small shot of dashi before dinner which was pretty tasty.

Aside from the taste, the price is expensive – soba bowls average $25-27, and some are $30/bowl. And the portions aren’t big – you will not feel satisfied after just a bowl of the soba.

Also, not sure why there is a mandatory 20% surcharge on every bill. The service here wasn’t anything memorable. But to be fair, our server that night also had a lot to do – he had to take our order, bring the food, make cocktails for another table, and then also take our payment.

Overall, I feel that their prices and tip policy would hold me off a second visit.

The restaurant is small and noisy, but the food is good. Shrimp tempera is very good! It is the best shrimp tempura I have ever had! The shrimp is fresh. The fried skin is thin and crispy. The dipping sauce is also wonderful with a little plum flavor. The uni shiso tempera is also very good! But we didn’t enjoy the soba too much. The dunk meat has good flavor and texture, but the dipping soup is very salty. Chawamushi is good with lots of flavor and soft steam egg.

They add 20% tips BEFORE tax on the check.

Last minute dropped in with friends, got accommodated to sit in. Unfortunately, overall the tasting menu is unsatisfying. Asked for adding more pickles, ended up getting charged with an additional order. The sake bottle price was premium due to a misunderstanding of the price if it’s glass or bottle.

Honestly it’s very underwhelming. Anything from a Japanese train station will blow this place away. Noodles are very standard, maybe 5-10% better than Grocery produce, but for 30$ a plate you expect something much better.

Protein portions are small, wait times are long, service is apathetic. Really confused why there is hype? To be honest this was mediocre at best. The sake bar next door is really nice tho, got some lovely bottles from there. The bartender is super sweet and knowledgeable.

As for Kamonegi, this is a one and done experience for me. Won’t be coming back, and won’t be suggesting my friends or family to come either.

This Japanese restaurant specializes in soba (Japanese noodles) with a duck broth and duck meat.

They also have other traditional Japanese foods, as well as a fairly large drink selection.

The food is pretty tasty, and the service very good. The environment itself is run down, but passable.

Be prepared that they automatically add a 20% gratuity to your bill.

It’s an okay place to try.

Absolutely incredible! We opted for the tasting menu with sake pairing, and even the simpler dishes were bursting with flavor. Everything was beautifully presented, and each sake pairing was spot on with the corresponding dish. Highly recommend the Tomato Kimchi soba if it’s available! We will be back for sure.

Authentic Japanese vibes, great ambiance and welcoming staff, I loved the voice of our server and we sat at the bar looking into the kitchen seeing all of it happen!

Def go for the side dishes, and try to share a noodle, one bowl is definitely too much for one person 🙂 a memorable night!

Delicious tasting menu delivered with great service and sake pairing. We live in California but we make sure to visit Kamonegi when we are in Seattle. Don’t miss this experience!

Good food but… automatic tip even for 2 people. Reservations with deposits. Located in the middle of nowhere so add the cost of an Uber in then out. Homemade soba isn’t that much better to make up for all of this overhead of eating here. Service was great though.

Had high hopes for this place that fell flat. Did the tasting menu and the person I was with and I didn’t really like anything
They gave old looking carrots (browned) and pieces of lettuce on the pickle appetizer. Weird that they gave jalapeño watermelon bites and called that one of their items. Their croquette was too oily and creamy to finish. Eggplant was unpleasant. Soba was nothing special at all, and the duck one was extremely salty even watered down. Had like 2 meatballs but even with that small of quantity I didn’t want to eat them. Best thing was the dessert, that was good.
Would not go again or recommend. Def overhyped. Very expensive for what you get too, everything is greatly overpriced. I like the interior but their menu, offerings & everything seem like smoke and mirrors. Bowls are mainly from crate and barrel and cups from ikea too which wasn’t impressive lol for the price you pay. Also no AC, we were sweating while eating.
