Love this little market. I had one of the best poke in town. The papaya was so sweet. My hubby enjoyed the fish tacos. Orders to go & we ate at the covered benches outside. Parking was kind of tricky. Will return for sure

CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS IMPROVEMENT:

We have supported Kalapawai Market for nearly 30 years—our children even worked there alongside the original owner’s son when they were teenagers and attended the same school.

Last week, we sent a friend to purchase flowers for someone celebrating her birthday, and the tropical bouquet received was clearly in poor condition and not suitable as a gift. I took dated photos when I saw them.

When I returned to the store (a week later) and showed the manager the stamped photos, she said she thought the flowers looked good and that any issue was simply a matter of opinion. She also explained that this is not a flower shop but a general store and therefore offered no acknowledgment, replacement, or solution. The interaction felt rushed and unwelcoming, dismissive and embarrassing.

I was hoping for basic recognition and customer care, especially as a long-time supporter of this local business.

Stumbled upon . Not mad at it. Good juice, and have food options. And ice cream /popsicles. There is a few tables outside. But you can just go to the beach and enjoy yourself with your treats. They have coffee , subs, wraps, sandwiches, and a little sweet treatz…. ❤️

We stopped here on a whim for lunch after swimming a Waimanalo Beach. They have a wonderful variety of food, from local dishes to pizza for our pickiest of eaters. The poke nachos and garlic shrimp were my favorite meals of our weeklong trip!!

This is officially one of our favorite places to grab a bite to eat in Hawaii! Highly recommend their iced mocha lattes, the Pesto Chicken Sandwich and the Coconut Mala-Be!

Phenomenal tastes! Server & staff were very helpful and kind. I haven’t found a better “hole in the wall,” in a long time. The items to buy were great as well; t-shirts, coffee & snacks, bags, and mugs! Don’t miss coming here. Try the Margarita Pizza and S’more Brownie with Mac Nut Ice cream on top, you won’t regret it!

We were next door neighbors for years and bought their delicious food on a regular basis for our beach outings. Their location is excellent and the staff is amazing. Their coffee however, can be significantly improved with a couple of procedural tweak.

What’s wrong: coffee is pre-ground. The barista doesn’t clean portafilter in between orders.

Why this is bad: pre-ground coffee degrades quickly due to oxygen exposure if not used immediately. When you don’t clean a portafilter in between uses, you recooked coffee grind which gives the coffee a burnt taste.

How to fix this: if you want to keep the current grinder for large pots of drip coffee, which you obviously sell a lot of, great, but get a separate grinder for espresso based drinks. The grinder is more important than the quality of coffee bean. Portafilter, just clean it.

Bottom line, we love this spot and with very minor procedural corrections you can have world class coffee that will draw not only regulars, but more consistent visitors.

Great stop for breakfast and a few last minute beach items. It’s a little pricey but you can find most of what you want. The breakfast menu is full options and very filling serving. They didn’t have coffee creamer so not a big fan. Located just on the corner the round about so be careful when walking or driving there. Very friendly and fun staff.
