True hidden gem for Minnesota: Kai’s is the epitome of neighborhood sushi place that you find in west coast. It’s where sushi is the norm and you dream of finding a place just like Kai’s that hits on great atmosphere, awesome staff and service, and really fresh fish!
We’ve gone a handful of times and everything has been awesome. Its very come as you are, so casual to fancy you’re welcomed with open arms.
Prices feel great, especially considering the melt-in-your-mouth sushi that quickly disappears from your plate. Weve had many things but this last time around we got a bowl of edamame and the two-person sushi and sashimi combo. I may have already aluded to it, but I’ll say it again: it was amazing!! We fought over who got the last piece of what, and our server just laughed and played along!
Low hype. No snobbery. Just great sushi and great humans throughout the restaurant. That’s the whole vibe. That’s the reason you return.

The crab rangoons set the bar miles above anything else I had at any other resturant, and each dish after kept raising it higher! Amazing sweet chili sauce and filling on the crab rangoons, to the amazing rolls and tasty Udon. We will be back here again many times over! A real hidden gem.

Some of the freshest and best quality fish I have had since being back to MN! The sushi chefs actually know how to correctly cut the fish… many places I have been to cut it wrong unfortunately. The miso soup actually had enough tofu most people are stingy with it and it had great taste.
They have lunch specials. The service is on point. If you’re in the area and craving sushi, I definitely would check it out.

Delicious sushi with fast service. The seaweed salad was one of the best I’ve ever had. The genmaicha tea was delicious. I got a variety of rolls that were all good quality. The fish tasted fresh. The unagi I got had a bone in it, but that’s not unexpected.

Lunch specials are AWESOME! $17 total for soup or salad and 3 rolls! I really enjoyed the salad. My friend said the Miso soup was fine, a tad salty. The sushi was great for the price. I will likely be back frequently for the lunch!

The service! First off- everyone working played a part in our time there. So attentive and kind. The sushi- sex on the beach, zesty salmon & under the sea.. INCREDIBLE. We also ordered the garlic edamame to start & finished it! Can’t wait to go back! Worth the trip and price! Well done

We had the garlic edamame – highly recommend that for a starter. We ordered three specialty rolls (under the sea, sex on the beach, zesty salmon) and LOVED them all. They seemed to have more unique specialty rolls than other sushi restaurants. The service was impeccable. I will recommend this to every sushi loving friend that I have!
