Dear [Jon Boy’s Smoke House],
I wanted to take a moment to share my experience during my recent visit. While I appreciate the friendliness and hard work of the waitstaff, I was disappointed with the overall experience for the following reasons:
Food Quality: Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I found it to be lacking in flavor and quality, which was surprising given the restaurant’s rating.
Service Timing: We waited over an hour for our food, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy at the time. This delay was quite baffling and detracted from our experience.
I hope that this feedback is helpful and that the restaurant can make improvements moving forward. Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Stopped by tonight to pick up some bbq and Brunswick steak for supper tonight and when I got home opened up the bbq container only to find half of it to be fat and gristle . It’s like since it was a to go order they didn’t care. Y’all have to do better than this. If I didn’t live 2 hrs away I would’ve brought it back .

I picked up a gallon of Brunswick stew and a small container of barbecue sauce to go.. got home the “stew”. Was nothing more than a lump of ground meat with some tomato and corn in it… I had to cut it down with some homemade chicken stock and add ingredients to even make a stew absolute terrible.. open the barbecue sauce and it was a pudding made from tomato paste and molasses.. I really should have drove back up there and got my money back.. Terrible.

The place could be a little cleaner, feet stick to the floor. Our last visit our food was literally cold. My husbands hamburger steak had what felt like refrigerated gravy poured on top, the onion rings were cold and soggy, my brother in laws steak was cold. My mother in laws baked potato was cold. Here lately we have tried two or three times and the quality has been majorly off. . Don’t think we will try again for a while.

So I placed an order for the Philly cheesestake plate with onion rings and fried okra for my sides.First off I didn’t receive a receipt nor the order ticket that’s usually on the bag.When I got home my okra were not in my order.I called back about it & was told I could come get them if I wanted to leave from home to get them…so I said of course I ve paid so I’ll be back.When I got there the same employee was at the window completely ignoring me propped in the drive thru window on her phone & on the clock mind you taking selfies with her tongue out.I was sitting there for at least 5 minutes.I had to knock on the window to get her attention. Completely unprofessional and unexceptable.Service is absolutely terrible do not recommend.

The restaurant closes at 9, but the kitchen closes at 8. The kitchen closes at 8 but they stop picking up the phone at 7 to avoid takeout orders. If you get there at 8 to place an order through the window, you can’t and must come inside. This place is only still open because it’s a monopoly in Roanoke as the only weekly non-fast food option, that it has loyal patrons (for whatever reason)

Went on a road trip to Talladega National Forest, taking the back roads through small towns. Drove through Roanoke, AL and had lunch at Jon Boy’s Smoke House. The food was freshly cooked, got generous portions of real southern cooking – coleslaw, hushpuppies, grilled veggies, fried whole catfish. Had my fill and still had leftovers enough for tonight’s dinner.

Went and was told to sit anywhere. Took a long time to receive salads and appetizers of 4 cheese sticks and 6 green tomatoes took almost an hour. Then food came out for 3. Then other finally hamburger steak meal. Plain burger patty, no gravy or onions. When asked for brought out cold gravy and onions. Was told short staffed which is understandable. But was rude. Finally upon speaking to manager. With no results, as leaving, waitress starts yelling to get out. I have eaten there several times and food was perfect. Tonight was unacceptable and We will never return.
