Hamburger counter that offers hearty charcoal-broiled patties with old-school toppings for takeout.

Been eyeing this place for a bit and finally decided to try it out with my mom, we went with 2 orders of their daily lunch special which runs from 11-3 if I remember correctly . The special comes with a decent sized burger, a generous amount of fried and a drink!
The burger was great! Cooked well and juicy! Fries had the good tender/crispiness to them, and you could season them to your liking. I’ll be coming back here.

Johnny’s Hamburgers is one of the best classic burger spots in the area. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, with fresh toppings and soft buns that bring everything together beautifully. The fries are crispy, well-seasoned. The old-school vibe adds a nostalgic charm and the place is kept clean and well-organized. If you are looking for high-quality comfort food, excellent value, and consistent taste, Johnny’s is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

The only good thing was the price and the store was clean. But the meat quality (if you can even call it meat) was really bad and low quality. I don’t get why it has a 4.6 rating?

I came here with my husband while visiting from the UK. He’s been coming since he was 10 and now, at 38, the double cheeseburger is still his ultimate comfort food there’s nothing better anywhere. I really enjoyed it too, and the poutine was one of the best I’ve had. Well done for keeping the food consistently delicious and greatly priced all these years!

Not sure why this place is rated so high.
The food was really mediocre, but the price was anything but. They only accepted cash but still charged tax (I calculated this while waiting for my food). The burger buns were from a common supermarket brand, and they were completely soggy within 10 minutes of being made and arriving home. Furthermore, I was concerned about the restaurant’s hygiene; the cashier handled the food directly. I couldn’t accept that. If anyone shares my concerns, please don’t go to this restaurant.

Definitely a classic! We got their cheeseburger, which was $5.70 (double patty you add $2.40), veal on Kaiser ($6.50), cheese dog ($4.95), gravy on fries ($1.45) and the fountain drink ($1.45). Everything was pretty good, you can’t really ruin a burger and for these prices, there’s no room to complain. If you plan on getting the veal on kaiser, the veal isn’t as thick as a burger but the flavour is there. The cheese dog was good but Johnny’s burgers is better known for their burgers. They also told us that their hot dogs are a mix of chicken, beef, and pork so keep that in mind if you have any dietary restrictions. As for the gravy on fries…I loved it! We got the gravy on the side (which makes it easier to use the gravy on other food too) the gravy and fries were such a great combo! Overall, great staple in scarborough.

There are a lot of other reviews about the food. I’m commenting on the friendly service we got and we had the chance to capture a few photos that hopefully show a few smiles and how CLEAN this place is. One of the 7 wonders of Scarborough, according to a review that’s posted inside and outside there lots of parking. Enter from Sheppard and go behind the Shoppers Drug Mart for Johnny’s lower parking lot.

Johnny’s Burger – ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Tried the steak on a kaiser and it was really good – juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The bun was soft, and the toppings were fresh, giving it that classic old-school burger feel.
It gets very busy, especially during lunch hours, but the line moves fast. Just a heads-up – it’s cash only, but they do have an ATM inside if you forget. The place doesn’t have indoor seating, but there are a few benches outside where you can sit and eat.
Nothing fancy, just good food made right. Great spot for a quick, satisfying meal if you’re in the area and craving a proper burger

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this was hands down one of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had.
I stopped here because the rating looked great. Big mistake. The moment I walked in, there were red flags everywhere. Cash only, of course… and surprise, there’s an ATM inside (with fees). That already set the tone.
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. There were about five people standing at the grill, but only one was actually working while the others were laughing and doing nothing. They asked what vegetables I wanted, but everything already looked questionable. I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
There is no seating at all, so I ate in my car.
One bite… two bites… and that was it.
The bacon had the texture of chewing gum, and the burger tasted extremely processed and borderline inedible. I never throw food out, but this went straight into the garbage. Completely disgusting.
Between the cash-only setup, the chaos behind the counter, and the food quality, the whole place felt sketchy and unprofessional. I genuinely don’t understand how this place has such good reviews.
Save your money, save your stomach, and do not fall for this like I did. There are much better places literally anywhere else.

Johnny’s Burger is a true neighborhood classic that’s been serving up delicious food for decades. It’s a takeout-only spot with no indoor seating, but don’t let that fool you—this place delivers big on flavor and value. The burgers are charcoal grilled, giving them that perfect smoky taste, and the fries are super crispy and golden every time. The menu is simple, the service is always fast and friendly, and the prices are unbeatable. If you’re looking for an old-school burger joint that gets everything right, Johnny’s is the place to go!
